Yeah, I read that in Blabbermouth....Now, I'm even more curious about Mindcrime II. God I hope it does the first one justice. Mindcrime is one of my most favorite albums from when I was a teenager....

I still think that making a sequel to that album is a bad idea. And it was kinda gay when i saw them live and they finished the show and everybody started chanting for them to come back out for an encore but instead of getting one the lights dimmed and they projected a gay advertisement for Operation Mindcrime II onto the the stage.

A sequel needed to be made, at least the story needed to be finished. The most important thing about this album is the story, the story needs to hold up. If the music isn't as great, the story needs to be. Simple as that. The legacy of the first album is in the story. Without the concept that album would simply be a great album, it wouldn't be a classic album.

Everyone says this! It makes no sense! DeGarmo wrote 99% of Hear In The Now Frontier, the album most QR fans say they dislike! It was pretty much a Chris DeGarmo solo album. DeGarmo is not into metal like that, he's doing melodic rock stuff now, and not even actively playing in bands. He's a pilot! He flies rich people around in private jets! No, you don't want DeGarmo back, you want Geoff Tate to quit playing dictator and stop pushing his love of 70's and 80's art rock into the band!

No, I want DeGarmo circa QR/The Warning/Rage For Order/O:M/Empire...hell, even Promised Land back. I didn't say it made sense...I'm just selfish and that's what I want!

And I know he's a pilot. I may have sucked at Wilton's high school pic, but don't judge my QRychedom on that.

As for Q2K, good rock album. Not mindblowing, but far from bad. The same goes for Tribe, which is actually the better of the two. DeGarmo did write 3 songs on that album.

I was a HUUUGE Queensryche fan back in the day. Bought Rage for Order when it came out and everything. Fucking listened to that thing every day on my walkman while I did my paper route. Loved the hell out of Operation Mindcrime. Dug Empire. But, after that, it felt, um, not as good. Then, I saw QR with Fates Warning and Dream Theater two years ago. They were just not that good at all to me. The worst was Geoff Tate all with a big biker chain hanging down and his shaved head. He looked like Billy Corgan started riding Harley's. And then, that new guitarist played the whole set with his hood up. Um, when did hoodie sweatshirts become metal? When did wearing your hoodie up become metal? I think never. So, I have very low expectations for this sequel thing. It sounds sad and a last gasp at what once was.

He looked like Billy Corgan started riding Harley's. And then, that new guitarist played the whole set with his hood up. Um, when did hoodie sweatshirts become metal? When did wearing your hoodie up become metal? I think never. So, I have very low expectations for this sequel thing. It sounds sad and a last gasp at what once was.

I had the same exact experience. I caught that show in Portland and luuuved Fates Warning and Dream Theater (as usual), but QR was...erm, just not as good. I was really disappointed. And I couldn't stand hoodie-guy's solos. He had a grundgy twist on them and it just didn't go over well with me at all.

It is either going to be totally amazing or totally shit. I'm not sure how well it is going to connect with the original, given that it had quite an 80s vibe and they're almost certainly not going back to that. Still RJ Dio, eh?

Musically it won't be like the original, that's why storyline has to be consistent...and GOOD. I've enjoyed QR since Promised Land, but I try not to compare the new stuff to the old because it simply doesn't compare, but as a separate era of music they've done quite well with a more melodic rock sound. Nothing mindblowing, but far from terrible.

I would simply like good, solid songs. If I can't have that then the story had better be great and do the original justice.

Oh, yeah, that was the other thing. I had forgotten that. His solos totally had the wrong feel for the songs. You're right. Grungy. (How the fuck does one spell that, anyway?) I concur.
