That way I can mount an external hard drive under the seat and have access to as many somgs as I have space for. Easy to unmount and bring into work or home to update or listen there. I don't spend enough time away from work, home, or car to warrant an portable mp3 player.

Some of my friends have CD players in their cars that play MP3s...works quite well! A USB port would be good if you could just stick your memory stick thing into it and play whatever was on it.

I admit, a strereo in a car/truck that plays MP3s is mighty nice. My new truck has this and it's killer. If you use Windows Media Player and rip WMA files (which are a lot smaller than MP3s with the same sound quality) you can fit about 200–300 songs on one CD depending on the length of the songs! I fucking awesome! For instance, I have a CD with every Helloween album on it, a ton of unreleased songs, Roland Grapow's solo albums and the Shockmachine album with plenty of space to spare. It's killer.

This is my turntable:

It runs around $130 (US dollars)

...and if I listed my record collection, I'd probably get laughed at. But yes, I'm a vinyl fan.

I dare you!

Being laughed at is nothing to be feared, it happens to me every day.

Seriously though...I do intend to buy cheap/bad music when I get my turntable. Then you won't be alone.

Heehee.

Oh crap, now I've been dared.

WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!!!!!!

I have to wait until I'm home from work. Oddly, I don't keep my record collection in my office. But for a preview...

I think I have come to a decision.

Today I happened to come across a vast (for me anyway) sum of money and I think I will splash out on a new turntable for myself. I am considering getting a Marantz TT42:

And so it will go nicely with my Marantz amp (when it gets repaired...grrr!). So soon I will be free to buy all kinds of whacky vinyl from charity shops...yay! I will also finally be able to listen to Alien, and also that Removal 7" with Devin. Yay again!

PS: Steph...I havent forgotten. You have been dared!

I love Vinyl! :D

Has such a nice 'rich' sound to it.. Got an original pressing of the first Black Sabbath album, and I swear that the rich sound combined with the crackelling in the background adds an eerieness to it!

Blazingmonga wrote:Just curious, but are there any vinyl fans out there?

Also, I have been thinking in investing in a turntable, can anyone here recommend anything in the cheap to cheap-ish range?

I am tempted by: http://ws4.richersounds.com/showproduct ... =MARA-TT42

Marantz have always been good to me.

I dont want to get into vinyl because I believe to be a better format or anything, I just want to be able to listen to all the cheap fun stuff in charity shops (and maybe my Alien vinyl finally!).

I decided about a year ago that I would start buying all my favourite albums on vinyl. I just recently got Jeff Buckley - Grace, Kyuss - ...And the Circus Leaves Town and Kyuss - Blues For the Red Sun

Kyuss particularly sounds really good like it was meant for vinyl

He did Lady In Red. Bill Bailey is convinced he is the Devil, or at least Osama Bin Laden in disguise. Of course if you haven't seen Bill Bailey's stand up then you won't know what the hell i'm talking about.
