This thread made me think of Diamanda Galàs also.

Corrupted are fucking immense, I must grab the new one soon...

A now defunct doom band similar to Electric Wizard; Warhorse, used to have little acoustic interludes within their songs, considering their tone was similar to the one on 'dopethrone', but heavier, that made for some great moments when the electric kicked back in.

Corrupted do this too, but on a level that fucks with your soul.

Greg Reason wrote:And yeah, "Damage" is a winner... one of the main higlights of the second Sydney show I saw. That one, "Spring Haze" and "Playboy Mommy" owned that show.

I managed to see her on her first tour without a band since Little Earthquakes, for the Strange Little Tour, it was amazing. She played Mother, Playboy Mommy and Take to the Sky...it was one of the best shows I've ever seen...beaten only by Slayer.

And that's another band that should be here, Slayer. Especially seeing them live, it's the heaviest and most killer show ever.

Greg Reason wrote:Yes, Lisa Gerrard is quite heavy indeed! So is Diamanda Galàs, in very much the same way. Check out her Defixiones double disk set.. Probably the most emotionally heavy thing I've ever heard.

Ill definitely buy The Defixiones album, now that youve mentioned it

Anyway, another amazing group thats worth hearing is Elend. Heard of them?
Amazing stuff. Think Dead Can Dance but much more violent and terrifying. I would recommend any of their albums. Many seem to prefer The Umbersun album.

Theyve got a couple of downloads on their web-site
Here's one of them: http://www.elend-music.org/downloads/Melpomene_high.mp3

Elend are one of my favourite bands ever. I would love to know more about them but there seems to be limited info.

I couldn't agree with you more. A friend of mine, who listens to some rap, like Biggy and stuff like that once came into my room while I was listening to Absence, looks at me and shakes his head and just says, "That's some serious shit there."

Check out Marz if you like heavy hip-hop....it's got some kind of industial vibe. I think one of the members used to be with Ministry.

Check out Lung Foo Mo She
