I'm gonna check out almost every other band posted here also, some of them sound pretty interesting.

Good thread. If I come across anything devin'ish, I'll post it here...I very much doubt I will though.

Just curious, but who were they supporting? If you get the chance to see a PT headlining show, go see them...absolutely stunning live!

Cardinour is mad as a really mad mango. I disagree....I think that they are all worth buying. Deadwing rocks!

What about Dino Alden? He produced all three Zero Hour discs, and besides Devin, he's the only who goes for that huge sound when producing albums. Check out The Towers of Avarice and you might be surprised.

Another favourite producer of mine is Neil Kernon. He's god.

Zero Hour's production is dead sexy, has he done any other bands?

I still don't see how Porcupine Tree sounds like Dev. This is driving me kwazy!

Relax, no need to go kwazy!

I think they go together well because they put all the same elements into their music. There is an emphasis on melody and harmonic vocals. The songs are generally progressive in nature, with a tone that ranges from ambient to hard rock/metal. An album like Deadwing has a lot of the same stuff in it as an album like Ocean Machine, its just made by a different person.

The same 'mix' of music I suppose. Though in P.T's case the band are moving from a prog rock background more towards metal, whereas Devin is moving from metal towards something way more proggy.

Any idea what I am on about?

(I find myself saying that a lot...!)

I'm sorry, forgive me. I am indeed a Lazingmonga...

Here, let me help:

'D'

I've also got a spare 'B' if you want it.

Anyhoo, you are still mad as a really mad mango! Arrrrr!

I like go kwazy now and then!

Then I need to listen to Deadwing again. I listened to it once and thought it was really, really mellow. Too mellow...which is why I've only listened to it once. I really dig In Absentia, but I think it's pretty mellow as well.

Their production, of course, is wonderful. As is Dev's.

They were supporting a band named after the singer called Gary Numan. I think that was in 2002, was the same year I saw devin and SYL.

Wintersun is very similar to Devs work. It is the solo project by the former Ensiferum vocalist Jari. The music kinda sounds a mixture of strapping young lad, devin townsend band with a european viking twist. I seriously can't get enough of the self titled album. Jaris vocals sound very similar to devs and also the music has this epic feeling with synths and all, just like devs stuff. Jari has also mentioned many times that he loves devin and would love to work with him. Anyhoo...listen to me babbling on...
