Images and Words, because that's the only DT CD I've heard. And it rockcksers my boxers.

Dream Theater is a band, which lacks only one thing: me with the Big Fucking Scissors. I'd probably cut off about 1/4 out of their material.

They have incredibly good songs, good songs spoiled by bad parts and good parts in lame songs (glaring example: Innocence Faded/Awake - check the ending!). Oh, and I forgot "slow" songs, I hate most of them (Goodnight Kiss - aargh).

My fave albums are Awake and Falling into Infinity (accused of sellout, but has gems like New Millenium, Hells Kitchen, Lines in The Sand and Trial of Tears). Those, being my fave records of them, still would be better after work with Big Fucking Scissors :).
Train of Thought was disapointment to me - those solos are pointless and incredibly wanky in fact. Ending of "This Dying Soul" is just disgusting.

I hope their next effort will be more melodic, fusion-spiral-architect-goes-pop stuff - I like this side of them most.

bpeter wrote:Hi guys! Please check out my band's website, and get the new EP free!! http://www.dystopia.uw.hu

The music is a little bit of prog, and heavy! Check it! Thanks!
Please don't use the board simply for plugging your own material. That's just not a cool thing to do.

Dream Theater were the band that first got me into progressive music, metal and all sorts of brilliant music so I feel strangley loyal to them, even if their last three albums have been a bit mediocre.
Everything from Falling into Infinity (my fav) back is excellent though.

If you're into them you may be interested in this news, one of the rare things that makes me want to be American

Dream Theater and the Dillinger Escape plan on the same bill, i'd kill to see that :(

I voted Awake, its definitely the most consistent (although Octavarium would have got my vote if it was included) and Scarred-Space Dye Vest are the most amazing final song combination since Funeral, Bastard, Death of Music on Ocean Machine.

I've got Octavarium sitting at home but haven't listened to it yet - in the meantime I'd have to say Images and Words but as far as songs go - well A Change of Seasons is the most complete track ever written

Images & Words is my fave DT album. I have to say though, James is a great vocalist but highly overrated by most Dream Theater fanboys.

I loved in the same way I&W and Awake. When FII came out, I was like "whoa!! - awesome". And for all these years it's my fav :)

Can't remember when I listened to whole I&W.. or Awake.. I must remember the old days now by tuning some of DT, dammit :)

I'm really enjoying the new album. There are a lot of prog moments, a lot of positive songs (which are really what DT do best IMO) and not as much "metal for metal's" sake as TOT. Plus there are more varieties in their tones than TOT.

It's sitting here in front of me at my desk at work. It's taunting me. 2 hours until I'll be home. *cry*

Hey, don't cry. Just put the CD on at work.

:P

Edit: You'll probably be home by now. Doh!
