How has the release of Alien impacted your expectations/hopes of Human.

Has it changed what you think it might be like in your head?

Dammit, Noodles! Why do you have to use red letters? It's almost impossible to read your posts...

Oh, about Human? Uh, no impact at all, really. To me, Alien already has it's counterpart in Terria, so I'm not bothered or worried by whatever record Devin will finish off next...

Not at all, no. You can't judge one with another in my experience of Devin. I think if you did that you'd be marginly headfucked in the end.

No.
Like y'all have wrote, with Devin is very difficult to imagine the direction of his records, so I learned to wait without any expectation...

All of the previous albums are different sides of a huge diamond, all reflecting different tones of colors. We know all how great that diamond is - but who can tell which color, and which tone is the next side reflecting, and how brightly, before seen it? :P

(geez, that was a stupid one, but that's what I got in my mind when trying to guess anything about the next Dev's album)

No Expectations here, but i'm thinking the new DTB will be heavier than the previous, and will probably somehow connect with Alien. Devin's albums seem to connect anyway.

I heard dev in an interview say his next record is very much influenced by Opeth

I'm looking forward to Human MUCH more thanks to Alien, which is fucking amazing. Now I've had my fix of new SYL, it's got me craving new DTB that much more. It should turn out very nice as a "yin to Alien's yang", as Devin said.

See that's what's got me thinking, it;s very hard to imagine what that 'yin' is :)

I'm the same way... Once I got my hands on Alien, I started craving some DTB. And of course it also works the opposite way.

P.S. Thanks, Nood. :)

Really interesting question, Fragility...and I am not sure of the answer.

Maybe you can say that Alien has confirmed to us all that Devin is still capable of creating surprising and beautiful music, but there was never really any doubt about that.

Also, perhaps we can assume that Human will somehow by a counterpart to Alien. Maybe this is the way it will be in future, with Devin dividing his music between these two sides. You could say that he achieved a similar result in 2003 with the simultaneous releases of SYL and AE. Both of those albums seemed to act as each others antithesis.

It's hard to imagine what the yin/yang opposite of Alien would be, as it is such a varied album as it is. The song Two Weeks could easily be a DTB song, if it were on a different album. I can only imagine really that the Human album will be epic, whatever form it takes.

What am I saying...I have had too much coffee...woops.
