I don't think it would be right for me to vote, considering I don't find him under-rated OR over-rated. I don't particularly like Nirvana (to me they aren't that good, but I suppose that they may have been had I liked that sort of music at the time). As a person he seems very nice, from what I've seen and read in interviews. I was impressed with his work in Probot, and I appreciate how he experiments with new things. Compared to others (won't mention any names, I'm sure you'll all know who I mean anyway! ) he isn't as good a drummer.
I actually think he's a great drummer. He plays exactly what the songs need. The Queens record played on have the perfect drums for that record. And he plays other instruments equally well, that's pretty impressive.

I don't really listen to much of what he does, but Everlong is one of my favourite songs ever.

Sniffing Beav's underwears...
After a long show, or even better, after a tour! ( but he would have to wear only one for the whole tour...)
What a gay forum!

I wouldnt say he is neither, Im pretty neutral on that one. I like the foo fighters a lot, one of the few mainstream bands that I can listen to and I like them because their sound and style changes from album to album, and each album has a vast variety of songs. He is a talented musician and song writer as he plays all the instruments on the first Foo fighters album and the Probot cd. The drumming on the QOTSA album was good even though his replacement played every beat and fill live without a hitch, he is still a good rock drummer. I just think he focusses more on writing a good song rather than trying to do wank guitar solos, but the duel drum solos that he did in the past with Taylor Hawkins were pretty wicked to see live.

shit its nearly evened out...
One thing's for sure, no one has made more of the rock n roll world than Dave Grohl. He may not be the finest musician to grace the stage but he does have one of the best resumes in the biz.
And he's a Kyuss fan.

I think he's done pretty well for himself emerging from the musical supernova that was Nirvana and be able to shine brightly enough on his own. I think he is a very versatile artist with a great sense of humour. Chatted to him at Melbourne Airport one morning about 8 years ago as we crossed paths heading different directions in Oz. He was touring Big Day Out with Foo and was I think eager to get away from the teenies who were crawling all over him.
Good bloke. Good musician. Will be something to look forward to indeed - to hear him drumming for NIN.

I have to admit, I'm not enthused over the NIN news. Many times have I tried to give NIN a listen but I just don't dig it.
I don't hate it, it really just doesn't appeal to me.

I hate most of the stuff that is played on the radio, but Foo Fighters actually grew on me. I don't own any of the CDs, but I turn it up if it comes on the radio at work. As previously stated, he's obviously not the greatest drummer in the world, but he is a damn good one. Also, he gets more respect from me for being able to play multiple instruments and sing as well.
