I dunno, Peace Sells to me was always the most consistent and well written album. The lineup with Gar and Chris with the jazz/fusion element was always interesting, and Killing is My Business is another one of my favorites.

So Far suffered from poor production, but the remaster gives this album some balls, and I like it a lot, but it's kinda inconsistent, the only 2 truly essential songs being In My Darkest Hour and Hook In Mouth.

Rust In Peace was really cool when I was into all the technical side of guitar playing but it kinda got old for me...I mean Holy Wars and many songs on that album will always be classics but it's more of a show-offy album.

Countdown was a great album but suffers from some inconsistency. Ashes In Your Mouth is one of my fav deth songs ever.

Youthanasia is a refreshing change in sound but has some inconsistency as well.

Cryptic Writings began to be too commercial, although it was still enjoyable.

Risk was...interesting. I can appreciate it for what it is but compared to past efforts it doesn't compare at all.

TWNAH was uninspired, save a couple songs (Dread, Return to Hangar). The talking samples, as in all Megadeth songs, annoyed me. Think how much better 502 offa SFSGSW woulda been without that freakin cop car bullshit.

TSHF is the best since Youth, has some really good thrash songs, but for me lost it's appeal kinda fast...I dunno. Could be my recent fascination with much heavier bands that makes it seem kinda bland. :?

metalus wrote:So what is your favourite Megadeth cd?. I know someone has probably posted this before maybe. But as the new cd is kicking my ass i just had to ask. Also have all got the new Megadeth cd "The System Has Failed"?. or any of the Remastered version of the older cd's?.
 Megadeth was the reason I became a musician 13 years ago, and "The System Has Failed" is absolutely beautiful. Nothing brilliant or godly, but I can tell Dave is enjoying himself again, and that's what makes a great album. As far as favorite disc, Rust In Peace, hands down. Genius playing on that!

for the RISK remastered version I gotta say:

FUCK DAVE for how he ruined Crush Em. I really like the original version, but takin out the electronics makes it CRAP.

its still better than St.Anger though...

he resang the vocals to Take No Prisoners and Five Magics. I think he even messed up the lyrics on 5 Magics!

The only good thing about the Rust in Peace remaster are the demos with Chris Poland.

I don't think he resang them, I think he just used an alternate vocal take. There are alot of alternate takes put into the remasters, mainly for solos and things like that.

I don't have 'The System Has Failed', but I've got everything else (not remasters though), gotta say I'll put them in this order from best to worst:

Rust in Peace
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying
Countdown to Extinction
Killing is my Business...And Business is Good
Cryptic Writings (yes, I am that one Megadeth fan that loves this album)
So Far So Good So What
Youthanasia
Hidden Treasures (yeah, not really an actual album, but I'll throw it in anyway)
The World Needs a Hero
Risk

I still need to get their new CD, but I don't know if I'll have the extra cash after buying all of the other CDs I still wanna get.
