Pure fucking aggression from start to finish. I think Phils voice on that record is awesome.

Great Southern Trendkill has some killer tracks to though.

Nobody can deny that the opening riff to 'Walk' puts a great big smile on your face and the undeniable urge to bang your head!

It was Megadeth. Great album, easily their best IMO. Gar & Chris' jazz abilities really shine on that record. Shame Mustaine is a twat.

I really like Pantera's glam albums and Cowboys.. after that very little interested me.

Their live album was good as well, although some of Phil's between-song banter was a bit crap. Good live sound. I read somewhere that Dimebag used to play through a Marshall when live and just use the solid state stuff out front for show. Anyone know anything about that?

Vulgar for me, with Trendkill a close second.

While I do believe that Trendkill featured Dimebag's best guitar playing, the band just sounded more cohesive on Vulgar, and the songwriting was more focused as well.

I was the only one who voted for "Reinventing The Steel". I can't explain why, but it is the best album with Pantera in my opinion...

Anyway, speaking of DOWN...

"NOLA" was written over a period of years when Phil and Pepper met and jammed occassionnally... Just look at the booklet...
"NOLA" is a great document of a hungry rock band playing at their best, a band trying to survive.
"DOWN II" was written and recorded in 28 days with no "prewritten" riffs or anything. For me it sounds really spontaneous compared to "NOLA".
But still, I looooove both records, but I prefer "NOLA" anytime...
Well, enough DOWN talk!
I'm happy that I saw Pantera before they broke up!

I am a huge fan of The Great Southern Trendkill. I seem to like that one the best.

I can't decide, however...between Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven as a second place.

I was the only one who voted for "Reinventing The Steel". I can't explain why, but it is the best album with Pantera in my opinion...

For me it's just a "best of" of what has been written before. "I cast a shadow" or "revolution is my name" are great but for the rest there's a lack of inspiration ... They dont reinvent anything with this one, they just focus on some solid songs, but the originality is gone ... Same thing with what Dimebag and Viniepaul did with damageplan after

I like the sound of Reinventing The Steel, but some of the songs are a bit crap. I like DOWN II a lot.

i don't know whether or not anyone has said this, but Pantera Home Vidoes were fucking great, if only more bands did shit like that and caught it on camera. Vulgar video was the one thing that made me love the band and the music in the first place. just sitting and watching these wacky fucks destroy shit and hang shit on each other was awesome.


...and i went for trendkill, love the feel to it, it's just got a warm production to it and it hits hard from start to finish.
