lol — the fact that you don't want to turn it up to hear what's going on and, especially, that you don't care for subtlety in music makes me not respect your opinion. maybe headphones would help.

Agreed. I think most of Dev's little sounds have their place, and unique meaning. To me, at least.

Isn't that an Axiom? Maybe not but like....fancy words :B

I think Olives is a fucking IMMENSE track. If you don't like it; then you don't like it, but that does not mean it's shit.

Just because you can't hear it, doesn't mean you can't hear it

If you stripped out the less prominent background effects, then it wouldn't sound the same. Remember when Dev put the Supercrush Pro Tools vid up, and suddenly all of his secrets were revealed?

Everyone has universal truths, I just have more. I can't imagine living with little or no such beliefs, that wouldn't make much sense to me. I like to think devins track "truth" has some relation to this.

Lets not get personal or take things out of context now. No one mentioned anything about not caring for subtlety. I rarely play my music loud, but for your info I HAVE turned a lot of Devs muffled parts up to see if it makes more sense, and it doesn't to me. Not just because I can't hear it, but because it sounds like it's detracting from the production.

I make the distinction, there are plenty of quieter and sampled type moments dev has done that "work".... and there are plenty that don't.

Personally I don't want to invent or find meaning to things myself, I want to know what they meant to him/ the guys. And In a lot of instances you can't do that.

You didn't read what I said properly, I like the track. Stop chomping lettuce and you might read better?

Yeah I remember that, I referenced it in the previous post with "A lot of this stuff you can't really hear"....and I remember thinking that there was a lot of stuff in the track that perhaps didn't need to be there. That's another reason I have refused to listen to anything of Ghost, any of the trailers or whatever from Dev till it comes out.

When I first heard his jams for Addicted such as Supercrush and Universe, I got an idea in my head of how it would sound. That changed when it came out..... and not necessarily in a good way. I have adjusted to the final product, and like it equally for Universe.... but for Supercrush I prefer the version I had in my head based on the Pasty Mcbalderton vid slightly. And is purely due to some of the extra additional layered stuff which I don't think adds anything.

They're your own personal truths, mate. Don't tell me what mine are. :)

That said, these last couple of posts make more sense than that first one. I work with audio and video all day, and so I like to isolate the little things I listen to when I listen to Dev's music, they don't always add for me either, but generally they do.

Is this album going to be Addicted redux? I'm not good at keeping up with the info

I don't really think there is a difference between telling people things and having them accept them most of the time. If I tell you that one of your personal truths is not to kill random babies, you aren't going to question it. It's only with things that people or society deem more subjective/opinionated and subject to question that argument arises. And as I say, I think ultimately most things can be shown to work or not, thus I like to believe my truths stretch as far and wide as possible :P but point taken.

I just heard a good example of a sample that I think works very well, at the end of "Away". I've still no idea what it means or why it's there, but it seems to work well. A great track BTW.

Dev's samples at the end of his songs are what makes them hit home for me. For some reason, the tracks would lose their immensity if the subtle elements were taken out. 8)

What seems to be emanating from the mighty mind of the Devmeister is that it will be straight out hard rock, with focus on chorus and BIG production. I'm getting the vibes of a lighter Accelerated Evolution.

Yeah, it sounds to me like a cross between Addicted and Accelerated Evolution.

I will be very curious to see if Dev sticks to the "clean vocals" plan. I'm sure the record company hopes so

I said bad production, not sub-par production. More or less all contemporary music has a decent enough production, especially Devs since he is apparently very good at production and using his ears

And for that matter you might want you get your own checked, no offense. City sounds poop compared to T.N.B. which I think sounds great
