My 5 strings tuned to G are way heavier than my guitars...

I tune my 5-string to G as well ...but even with a .145 gauge string it doesn't sound so great. How do you do it?

He's starting after he finishes this east coast tour. Not much more that can be done before then.

Not sure if it has been addressed in the thread, but given that there will be 2 different drummers with different kits (?), will there be a significantly different sound from RVP to Dirk (other than stylistic approach)?

He'll probably trigger the drums the same way, but that's just speculation.

The "as well" should be read as "I have no reason to doubt this will be a knockout winner as well", so it is grammatically correct. And otherwise there was always the "words can not adequately describe" disclaimer.
