devin townsend solo/dtb stuff FAR exceeds SYL. it's not even a comparison. i didn't even like it at first back in the day, but once i got every solo album i needed more and then i eventually started enjoying city & the S/T and when alien came out i was really impressed cuz i thought it was a good mix between his typical solo & SYL stuff. i love his heavy music like on synchestra & ziltoid (my personal alltime favorite) so i'm super excited for the fact that SYL is no more yet he still seems to be writing complicated music with a heavy vibe.

Not to mention COMPLETELY different styles that would not work at all together.

yea i don't think that would work at all. just cuz they're both amazing doesn't mean they will work well together. Hey how about Paul McCartney and Ozzy get together too?

That would be the funniest thing ever.

Although hey, Max Cavalera worked well with Sean Lennon, so I guess it's plausible, but I seriously doubt it would work.

I liked what Patton did with Dillinger, also the song he did with Sepultura "Mine" I believe it was.

Maybe not a complete album with Dev but a song or two would be really interesting.

My rusty two cents.

Completely off topic but dev if you could collaborate with any 5 musicians dead or alive who would they be ?

and kind of on topic....

As far as i am concerned when it comes to listening to anything Devin has done be it SYL/DTB/DTP solo or even his stuff on other peoples albums. the best way to enjoy it is to take each project / album for what it is and don't compare it to the others. I have been a fan of his work for almost a decade now and i love each album/project/band for there own reasons. Simply just accept them for what they are and enjoy.

...just can't get over that Dj Tiesto comment.... Well, seriously, I have colleague from work as Facebook friend and he posts Dj Tiesto frequently in his wall. Tried to listen, never seem to get past ten seconds  But on the other hand, I really don't care about Meshuggah either. Bleed is awesome song, otherwise Obzen is just too... don't know, probably it's vocals that put me off. Too monotone for my liking. But, as dog lickin his balls, it's matter of taste I guess :D

DJ Tiesto is alright, I think there are better artists in his field, but he's definitely good. Parade of Athletes was pretty amazing.

Tiesto is sub par. No offense to his fans, but his music is horribly generic. There are WAY better artists in that field (Airwave comes to mind).
