What's the deal with Gildenlow?
Agreed Dan, not into political music myself. I was just really satisfied after listening to cribcaged, spitfall, and disco queen because of the the opposing music and lyrics, it was really interesting. PoS is one of my favorite bands as well, so much emotion.

Except Scarsick was a disaster, they NEVER choose the right tones, their mix and production is horrible and they're getting a bit cheesy musically.

I am so with you here....I was disappointed, but if I take away just the MUSIC and nevermind the production and the "statement", it is really good. It kind of reminds me of Concrete Lake in parts...wasn't it supposed to be consider TPE 2?
Dan, you described it perfectly as "righteous bullshit". Gildenlow has fallen into the trap that most professional philosophers have fallen into, which is believing too much in the power of philosophy.
That's probably the biggest difference between him and Dev now, is Gildenlow thinks he knows everything, whereas Dev admits he knows nothing.

I've heard that Scarsick was terrible in so many different instances that it made me expect nothing but slag from this record, but I was very pleased when I actually listened to it myself. Haven't had as much time to digest it as their other albums, but it is definitely on the same level as remedy lane and PE1 in my opinion.

Hayashi-san is good. He plays to the audience. I, too, think he's amazing, because he tries to be theatrical and dramatic.
All this Pain of Salvation talk has gotten me interested and I noticed I have some MP3s on my computer. I'll be listening to them tonight during my cardio workout. Can anyone recommend an album? Scarsick has me interested the most.

IMO, awesome Metal drummers, Hellhammer, or George Kollias from Nile, Or Paul Mazurkiewicz from Cannibal corpse For the sheer brutality and awesomeness.

Personally when I do cardio I like Nasum or Pig Destroyer LOL, but if you are in a POS mood...I would go with Entropia. It is the most consistently rocking album I think. The most metal one also. Lots of great progressive passages....
Good luck!
Dan
Speaking of collaborations, i was thinking that Bjorn from Soilwork would be amazing on deconstruction.
I love the work they did together on natural born chaos.

I like Gildenlow a lot better than Dev (or anyone) voice wise. but I'm partial to Baritone.

I think he is technically better...LOL@ the baritone thing. What does he have, like a 5 octave range? Amazing.
Still like Dev's character and tone better though.
