Yeah, but who's reviewing the album? A fan of metal? Or a fan of emo pop punk?

you win! :D

Kerrang is a magazine that I wouldn't wipe my arse with.

Go have a look at the Kerrang channel. They don't even have the guts to play anything remotely heavy/challenging.

Devin embodies everything that is non trend/commercial based.

It is no great loss to him that Kerrang don't dig Ziltoid. If anything I reckon its a compliment.

I remember years ago, Kerrang hated Pantera and made fun of Anselmo releasing a press statement about his drugs overdose. Also just before the release of Far Beyond Driven, they basically gave Pantera next to zero exposure.

Dime passed away and it was Pantera this, Pantera that....

I have a long memory...

Leave Kerrang to the kids who like Good Charlotte, Him, Enter Shikari etc etc.

Kerrang = laughable journalism for the kids.

*Ah, glad I got that off my chest*

(pours a coffee) :D

*awaits a Metal Hammer review*

They have some pretty random tastes. I dunno, I stopped going to their site a while back as I thought it pretty much became a parody of itself

Yeah, I find they're like most musical "elitist" things; good at telling you whats good, bad at telling you whats bad.

German Rock Hard magazine gave Physicist 9,5/10, Ziltoid 8/10 (same reviewer). He wrote in the Ziltoid-review that he would have given it 9/10 without the speech-sequences.

Ah, screw reviews.

They're nothing more than the personal views of some journalists who think they're God. If they don't like the album, they should give it to someone who will. Don't like it? Don't listen...
I'm supposed to listen to a reviewer who gives 30 Second To Mars, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys or The Fratelli's a better review than any Devin album?
It's all a matter of taste and unfortunately, most journalists have got (and leave) a shitty taste.

Bad review really. Is that a user review or a professional one? Since it contains spelling errors, words that are written apart that shouldn't be etc. Like " Ik houdt persoonlijk niet van tekenfilm muziek, behalve van Dommel dan!". I don't get a professional impression at all but that happens quite often when it comes to music reviews in my opinion (and games).

Did you mean the customer or journalist with that last sentence? Since journalists namely have to listen, even if they don't like it ;)

But I agree. As I kind of stated above, many reviews are not too professionally written and reviewers often write in an arrogant way.
And I don't think that all reviewers get the fact either (or just ignore) that the album is "soundtrack-like". I myself see it as a "metal opera" somehow with the music being related to the lyrics. Knowing this is crucial for a good review I think. I came to think of this when I read some remarks about how the songs build up etc.
