I vote MOP, the first album I got of theirs and it was just so bleak and heavy back then.

There's not a duff track on that album. I love it!

Black album is a great commercial success, but does anyone else thing that the last two tracks are rubbish album fillers?

Nah...'different' yes..but not fillers per se. I love the albums for what they are...not what they should-have or could-have been. I don't ever like comparing one album against another..even by the same band...i do have preference..but it is a hard judgement to make :D

They got to the top and now they are trying to stay there, but I'd say they're the dinosaurs of metal... Bound to become extincted... It's like a piece of music's history, one of the more glorious ones (yeah, they might be a sell-out, but hey - they began JUST LIKE ALL OTHERS DID) - Metallica brought metal to the massess and you can count people converted to metal in millions...

One more thought - DAMN, they were lucky with stealing that name from a magazine :)
One of the most catchy ones around :)

Society is making them stay there..that is why they get criticised so much. MetallicA only try to please themselves..and that is self-professed by the members. Extincted? Never....they are still going hard...they'll be round for years after their retirement also..like the Beatles, Elvis etc...i think u hit it on the head..they did bring METAL to the masses and started a revolution of heavy music in the world! Every metal band pays homage to them in some way :D

My favs are AJFA, MOP and Load. So i voted for AJFA.

St. Anger is the worst piece of shit album I have ever heard in my entire life. I Cant believe it has gotten so many votes (one vote) :)

Hmm...MoP recorded in Denmark. Denmark = Scandanavia. Scandanavia = metal......there is something in the air that makes metal that comes form that part of the world special. Orion wouldn't have sounded the same if it was recorded in the states...dunno why..just talking shit..

third vote for Ride The Lightning!!!

i really prefer the album to MOP. i don't MOP is as focussed and doesn't have the bleak emotion that Ride.. conveys to me

oh well, each to his own :D

i wouldn't call all of load and reload country per se. Mama said is country for sure..i guess its like texas rock etc..i dunno. But i really dig those albums..i think they are great. I guess if Hetfield did what Dev did and released them as solo projects they would have been received much differently...

Ugh, Load may been one of the single biggest musical disappointments I've ever had in my life. I honestly tried to give it a chance and listened to it for a while, but eventually I just got bored of it and have never listened to it again.

I agree that if it were put out under a different name it would have been recieved better. The fact that it was called Metallica after everything they did before, it was just a charade.
