FUNERAL.

This album helped me thru a really bad time in my life and "Funeral" was the song that helped the most.

I also voted for Funeral, I love the african rythms mixed with the melody near the end and HELL, only a guy like Devin would think of quoting Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" in a song:
"Its just a spring clean for the may Queen!"

I have listened to Ocean Machine over and over. I have never gotten tired of it. It is the only CD I have ever listened too that does not have a bad track on it. The two tracks that really stand out to me are Bastard and Funeral. Keep on rockin.

what i think probably makes ocean machine such a great album is how strong ALL the songs are...
but i think probably hide nowhere would be a good choice for my favourite

I ended up voting Bastard...the song is so damn epic. The song sounds so rough and dark in the first half, and then it transitions perfectly into the second, which is much more optimistic sounding, but not too optimistic, considering the lyrics...heh heh.

"Bastard, mother father no"

Genius.

It's an equation, the coma represents 'equals' (a.k.a. the sign '='). Left side is the "child" side and right side is the "parents" side. Then the right side of the equation is divided into biological, natural part ("bastard" stil does have a biological "mother", who gave birth to him, and a biological "father", who impregnated the mother) and the social, which imposes its own laws and therefore stamps an overwriting "no" over the biological facti. "Bastard" is by biological standards a normal child, but by social standards he is not. He is less. He has a "father" and a "mother", but those two were not socially unified (a.k.a. haven't got married prior to child's birth), only biologically (a.k.a. they had sex), therefore the kid doesn't meet the minimal requirements to be accepted as a social offspring, he's only a biological misfortune (judged by social standards of course), hence a special derogatory term: bastard.

I love this shit! :D
