Yep, but the question was about layering, not Dev-like-ness.
PS: What are the other VAST albums like? I only have the first.
"Music For People" is quite a bit like the first one, but it rocks out a little more. Also, the songs are like singles than the songs on VAST, which tended to sound like a collectve, to my ears.
"Turquoise" and "Crimson" were released on Jon Crosby's website for the fans, and the favorite songs from each were released on the album "Nude", all of which were a cross between the 1st and 2nd album. At any rate, if you liked the first album, you are going to like any other.
My favorite song on the first album is "Touched", and I am happy to say that Jon Crosby consistently makes songs this good on every album.
As for layering: Queensryche's "Operation:MIndcrime" was good and Pink Floyd were the kings until Dev came around.
