And Nesta is a much better player and a much better man than Materazzi.
Materazzi this time was very lucky... In 2002 he was one of the players that contributed to kick Italy out of the World Cup. He don't deserve this victory... He don't deserve anything. He is a "Shitman" (as we like to call such dickheads).

that goes for totti aswell

i think the 2 playes that deserved to have that cup most were easily Pirlo and Cannavaro.

I agree. But I would add in the list also Grosso, Gattuso, Buffon and Zambrotta.

Mmmmhhh... Don't be so sure about that... He is not that loved here... Even if he scored 2 goals in this World Cup.
He is still what he always has been.

And I agree with you here.

Mo, this is not unfair and this is not an attempt to make italian players look bad, that's just the way it is and you can't deny that racism and other scandals raised recently, soiled italian football and I am the first one to feel sorry for that

I believe if Zidane "lost" it, he'd hit or kick Materazzi in the back. Instead he ran in front of him and did as little as possible, but had to do it nonetheless. Materazzi ran his mouth at him for 10 secs or so, who knows what else he said. Why is this tolerated? Materazzi type of players should be banned from the game in general, end of discussion. In my opinion of course.

As little as possible!? It was a bad ass head butt!! He couldn've pushed him and told him to fuck off and it still would not have been as bad.

Now I've heard the Daily Telegraph (another rupert publishing) say that Materazzi called him a "terrorist" sheesh and I've heard from other italian press that Zidane after having his shirt pulled said to Materazzi, "If you want my shirt come get it after the game" to which Materazzi replied something along the lines of "Why would I want a girl's shirt"

I kinda don't believe either but who the fuck knows.

Zidane will speak on french Channel Canal + tonight at 8 pm

If it was a simple common insult, would Zidane waste the very last moments of his career with something so stupid ? Watch France Brazil again and there was no agressivity. Watch France Portugal again and Zidane was one more time very relax, talking with Figo before the match etc

I think this prick of Materrazzi knew how to hurt Zidane to make him react this way. In fact it was probably planned already. Italian players like Matterazzi know how to exploit opponents weakness to get some kind of nasty reactions. Nothing new in the Italian football, it happens outside the changing rooms, in the corridor before games, during the game etc

Zidane said no to provocation, in a very violent way, but in his whole career he never tried to intentionally hurt someone to get him out of the game, Materrazzi did it, several time. I hope if the guy used racial slurs that FIFA will ban him for life. To be insulted in the street, in front of your family, your girlfriend, in school or even in the world cup final, it is all THE SAME.

I would feel ashamed not to react if I get insulted the way he was.

I will stop and finish with this now, it's more positive.

Its a very interesting topic, did you also know that it is the first use EVER of video refereeing in football?

I'll finish off by saying that Materazzi, a player I've never liked (to the point where my friends and I ALWAYS edit him out of games or leave him on the bench) has tainted the win and I'm very disappointed in that regard. What's done is done I guess. At least Zidane had his moment of glory and I appreciate all his efforts with Juventus, its just a shitty way to go. But ah well, it kinda feels like we've finished the world cup but then a big sign came down saying

TO BE CONTINUED...

Other sports, including football codes, have been using video footage for years now. It's time football caught up with the rest of the world.

As Zidane said, Materazzi insulted his wife and sister, and as much as he wanted not to hear the insults, Materazzi kept going and going until Zidane flipped. He appologises but doesn't regret it. He'd do it again and I think he's right. It's where he's vulnerable, but he has every right to be. No one can say he should swallow Materazzi's shit "for the good of the game", for what good is the game if it gives blank cheque to racists, who are free to say anything, because the insultee will swallow it? Fuck that, everybody should react the way Zidane did so that this type of incident wouldn't be regarded as one-off but as a real and common problem. You call me black monkey, I'll hit you in the face. Every damn time, mofo. FIFA should track what's being said on the field. Only the referee should have access to that and whatever isn't linked with some kind of incident, should be deleted after seconds. But in this kind of incident, Materazzi should go down. "What did you say to him?" "Eeee, notting, notting, eee reely, I was tawking to miself ..." "Aha, so you said THIS to yourself?" *plays tape, smacks Materazzi on the mouth and suspends him for life*

Apparently Materazzi was heard by the FIFA today, we'll see what they decide. They are in an awkward situation because Materazzi is well known for this kind of provocation, Shevchenko headbutted Materazzi for similar reasons and he is not a bad guy either.

I think it is clear now that this player should be banned for a while because his provocation also changed the face of this game. Conspiracy or not, Materazzi knew Zidane would react to such insults and his plan worked well. I think he was the Italian team's scapegoat for such situations ... What an idiot.

Scapegoat for the italian team? What were the rest of them guilty of though? His actions were a an experssion his own character and do not reflect the italian team I feel. Materazzi should be given a hefty slap.

Nah I think the whole of Italy is still pretty stoked they won the cup, Materazzi isn't enough to spoil the party.
