Mono's got a new one? The Japanese Mono? Fry me a wombat...why didn't anyone tell me!!! Gotta check that one out...

my list would look a little something like this

in no particular order because that's too difficult

but yet, above all:

DTB - Synchestra...to me personally the best Album ever, so far

then:

Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance
Ihsahn - The adversary
Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis
Moonspell - Memorial
Torchbearer - Warnaments
Scar Symmetry - Pitch Black Progress
Ministry - Rio Grande Blood
Tool - 10,000 Gays
Kataklysm - In The Arms Of Devastation
Amorphis - Eclipse
Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabaté - In The Heart Of the Moon
Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream re-issue (not that it's a new Album)
Zyklon - Disintegrate (although it's no WoW but it's better than Aeon for sure)
Textures - Drawing Circles

Albums that I'm looking forward to or would like to be released:

the new Zombi CD (forgot what it's called but Cosmos was great!)
SYL's The New Black (although I heard it already)
a new Mastodon Album
maybe a new Neurosis if possible
the Porcupine Tree DVD!!!
new Blackfield
new Orphaned Land (produced by Steven Wilson..neat-o)

Interesting... I didn't know he was producing it. That's an odd combo, though. PT and OL are a lot different than PT and Opeth, so it should be interesting to see how that turns out.

agreed :D They are very much the middle eastern Opeth to me. I think SW will be good for them. He unquestionably is a great producer.

Eric Gales "Crystal Vision" <Shut up..I like the blues, too>

Um...it sounds nothing like Alien or the self-titled. This album is making people crazy.

Yeah, and it's pretty good! They were just on tour with Pelican...it was amazing.

Anyway. This hasn't been an exceptionally amazing year for music, imo. Here are ones that I thought were outstanding (no order):
-Synchestra (duh...but it's also probably my fav Dev album, ever)
-Katatonia's "Great Cold Distance"
-Russian Circle's "Enter"
-OSI's "Free"
-Queensryche's "O:M II" (I thought it was damn good)
-Bass Communion's "Loss"

There are some that I haven't heard yet, so I can't fully evaluate at the moment. There are others I've gotten, but none too outstanding.

Also: I don't think we'll see a new Orphaned Land this year. SW is a busy man, and I don't really see him fitting them in this year. Who knows...how long does it take to produce an album, anyway?

Add "Scott Walker - the Drift" on my list. Best album this year so far. Bleakest thing I've EVER heard.

I haven't heard The New Black, but how can you call SYL and Alien the same album? They are totally different!

They're only the same because he/she didn't like them both :P
