Wow, for me that game was the most thrilling till now.
But I fell sorry for the poland keeper, who did a great job.

(that red card and penalty was a joke, though)
It certainly was. Like the commentator (Martin Tyler) mentioned - he was sent off supposedly for denying Spain a goal-scoring opportunity, and then they award a penalty...the simplest goal-scoring opportunity of all...

IF Germany and England both finish top of their groups (which Germany will do unless they lose to Ecuador) then they won't meet one another until either the Final or 3rd Place playoff.

And Lars: have a little faith, Liebling
I have a whole wardrobe full of German football shirts!

This has been such a great world cup so far.
My favourite goal was Torres against Ukraine.

Poor Schevy

Gemany hasn't lost until the ref blew his whistle. And even after that, Zee Germanz seem to score sometimes. Don't ask me how but they just can't win a game regularly. The just have to push it to injury time.

:fuck: :bum:

That's an attitude I don't get. If a team plays great and/or courageous football, they have my symphathy. I was never a fan of spanish football, but their first match was amazing. "Even" if the dutch or english team does great, that's fine with me (as long as they don't play against our team, of course :D ).

What a totally unfounded accusation. My dutch friend, you are on crack!

he's on my ass crack, his favorite crack

well, it's not like the the Netherlands' performance has been THAT much better so far :D And in the last 30 minutes, as far as I'm concerned, Germany shot 12 times or so at the Poles' goal, the Poles had like 0 shots. If you say Germany didn't deserve it you must be Dutch

I'm not saying they didn't deserve it. It's just that Germany tends to score the winning goal in injury time. And The Netherlands scored (the one that turned out to be the winning) in what, 17th minute?

they may have scored...but what I'm saying is, their performance has not been exactly THAT great either. But quite a few of the favorite teams have been a bit lame so far. I think that's mainly because the (what have been considered) weaker teams are not that weak after all.

...and then sat on their lazy asses. :P

(And just as a reminder: Germay scored 4 times against Costa Rica, right? Right.)

Lazy? We just like to hang back and chill with a beer :)

Oh and Ecuador scored 3 times against Costa Rica. Without conceding ;)

Now I didn't say I don't enjoy their games. I very much enjoyed the first game of the World Cup. I just don't like either team. Germany has been so overhyped since the last World Cup and a good 2/3 of my friends are rooting for them. Yes, they have a good squad, but its not as good as Argentina's, Brazil's, Holland's, Italy's, etc etc. In the last WC their biggest victory was against USA.

England, on the other hand... Well, I've always felt the EPL was grossly overrated. England has a very good squad, but whenever you watch them play, the commentators don't shut up about the coach (who, by the way, is an idiot). They're also a really big favorite over here.

However, I do like players from both countries. I'm a fan of Owen, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Klose, Ballack, and Deisler (who for some reason is not on the german squad) just to name a few.

Anywhore... I liked the games today. I was ecstatic to find out that Ecuador made it out of the group stage when I woke up, and I really enjoyed the 20 minutes of the England game I was able to catch. A few people I've talked to said England were lucky to get the win, but they generated so many chances that if they didn't win, they would have been unlucky! It was a bit of a shock to see Lampard playing so poorly, though.

Paraguay/Sweden was a little boring.

Germany is overhyped? Where? At least not in Germany (we all know how much our defense sucks: Hell Yeah, it fucking sucks :P ). But they are doing their best, and their victory against Poland was hard earned.
And Deisler is injured again (a really luckless guy; third time in a row)
