Well this is interesting. It may have the shittest fuckin track name in history ("Supermassive Black Hole"; so shit that I'll leave spelling out the window and call it the shittest) but it's damn cool. Rather different to what they have done before... I daresay a lot of Muse fans will be pissed.

This is one of the band that I can't stand at all...
Their first records were nothing but some fucking remakes of Radiohead's music...
But yes, I haven't heard anything new, so this one may be good...

*waits for Biert to weigh in*

Not that I have any personal interest in Muse whatsoever, but will this become a "kick the shit out of (REPLACE bandname)" thread :?:

I don't like Supermasive Black Hole much. It's pure pop, and I think Muse can be at least classified as as alternative band. That new single may be entertaining, it's definately not a good single for Muse. This song can be a big hit for me, but please let it be by another band, and let Muse be Muse.

Their singer, Matthew Bellamy or something, said they wanted to go after Franz Ferdinant with their succesfull dance influenced britpop. Besides that is almost saying "We're selling out and going for the big money", I'm not sure it's the right direction for Muse.

On the other hand, they will have to change styles a bit, they're simply never going to top Absolution with something similar. Fans will be expecting something better, and eventually disappointed because Muse can't live up to the expectations.

But I've also heard that this single song is completely different from the rest of the album, just an eye-catcher. And I definately hope it is, I really liked the 'old' Muse!

I didn't hear it yet but what I read so far does not sound very encouraging :? And I actually like that band and saw them live once, good stuff! Probably too dramatic for some ears, though.

You quite obviously ignored their second and third albums.

Anywayz yeah Absolution was one of the best records to come out of the country at that point and definitely a highlight for rock music on a whole. The live shows were incredible and I can't believe a three piece could do such a good job on stage.

I'm not concerned that this single is pop because I like a lot of pop music (don't discriminate by the genre, discriminate by who's good and who's shit) and Muse have always had silly catchy singles that were always the worst songs on the albums (Plug in Baby, Hysteria, Time is Running Out, Dark Shines)

I have no doubt they will rip out some more genius shit like Absolution but from what I have heard I don't think this record will be as good as that one... A remarkable achievement, Absolution was. Beating tracks like Ruled by Secrecy and Blackout will be tough.

Greg, as much as you're entitled to your opinion, you're wrong, Supermassive Black Hole is an awsome name for a song. But it is a let down D:

The name "Supermassive Black Hole" would suit well on "The New Black"

Apparently you didn't listen. I don't think they've ever sounded like Radiohead aside from the vocals now and again.

Personally I think the best bands to come out of the UK in the past few years have been Hundred Reasons, The Coral and The Music.

Lostprophets would go there, too, as I thought their debut was excellent and though similar to other bands it was still unique in its own way, but their last album was just typical emo and it seems their new album is more of the same. What a letdown.

Yeah, the music were cool.
Then the next year Kasabian got hyped.
Every year, some sort of british dance/rock fusion band gets some attention then disappears...
bye bye Arctic Monkeys?
I guess they're more of a crap Libertines though.

Still haven't heard this Muse song, heard their live cover of Lightning Bolt's Dracula Mountain though... sucky.

I think you can download the new songs from http://www.muse-download.com. Legally, because it's a bootleg.
