Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

It hurts at first but helps to remember that EVERY record Devin has done has been compared negatively to the release prior to it. It usually takes a year for people to come around.

This album has actually been the most positively received of them all, which surprised me.

I think an artist needs to start worrying when their works are met with overall lukewarm response. "It's quite OK..."
As long as some people love it and some people hate it, everything's fine, it only shows that you're doing something right.

That's just two sides of the same coin really. (Does that saying exist in English?)

I *know* it's the other side of the same coin. (Which is the more correct version of that saying, btw) That's why I pointed it out. I thought it was hilarious that you were calling out fanboys by showing how "true" or "metal" or not fanboy (or whatever you want to call it) you are. Dude, anybody goofy enough to take the time to post multiple times on an artist's forum, or any forum like this, for that matter, is, by definition, a fanboy of a sort. If you're not Dev's fanboy, then you're somebody elses. Or metal's fanboy. Whatever.

Suffferrrr.

It shouldn't be too surprising. Not because it's *that* good, but because it's so consistent with much of what has come before it. In a lot of ways, it combines many of the better qualities of Infinity, Terria, and Ocean Machine. You can really hear this album's pedigree and heritage.

Where did I supposedly post that?

Oh. Okay. So, telling everybody how fanboy they are in two different posts and mentioning how ugly it is... You missed yourself posting that? You don't think that by posting that you're not showing how "not-fanboy" you are?

A technically perfect album, very interesting, high production value, but soulless. It satisfies for complexity and good arrangement and interesting singing, but seems to be a surgical piece, lacking in the essential passion and delivery that turns good music into great.

From a review on rateyourmusic.com (it's #1 of 2006 there though O_O), sounded like he was describing a Dream Theater album or something

I'm trying to figure out how this guy listens to Triumph, Pixillate, Vampira, etc. and goes, "Damn, there's just no soul to these songs. What empty, yet technically perfect music!"

Ooops, there I go again. I fanboyed right in front of everyone. I never learn.

ya know one of my best freinds thinks most of Devin's music is shit, but I always say who cares. i agree with what some are saying on this, the opinion is one thing but to say that there are no melodies catches nooks hooks and crannies is being way beyond in left field, shit this person never entered the ball park on this one. hell I think Synchestra is bad ASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! since the first time I listened to it.

I guess it's just made in too modern manner. Not vintage enough guitars, too much electronic effects, too clean production etc. Everyone knows, that digital equipment sucks soul out of everyone and everything.

Whatever that "soul" is.
