I know, the first two albums are a completely different style from the later ones, but I think especially Morningrise is a very good album. You need to be in the mood, and you need to be able to pay full attention to get it, but it's sooo great.

As for Ghost Reveries, it has nothing to do with Roadrunner. I don't like the guitar sound, I don't like Mikaels death vocals, the balance between heavy and mellow music is lost and the songwriting is kinda average for Opeth standards.

But I know, it all comes down to taste. That's why I don't agree with In Flames, SYL and Procupine Tree getting better over time.

At The Gates
Shihad
Opeth up until Blackwater Park, now I feel they're sorta treading water (which is still better than 95% of bands out there)

This is all pretty subjective though.

Absolution kills Origin. Kills it.

I don't think they were good then crap then good again... I think Showbiz is good, Origin is better and Absolution is best. The best stuff on Origin is as good as ABsolution stuff ("Citizen Erased", "Microcuts", "Screenager", "Megalomania") but half of it is boring ("Plug in Baby", "Dark Shines", "Bliss" etc...)

I'd agree with Muse.

Revolver being at the end of their period as a performing band, I think my beatles call still stands.

After that they were a different sort of band.

Dimmu definitely! As for Neurosis, it's so hard to say... I LOVE the Eye of Every Storm but I think my favourite era is still Through Silver in Blood.

neurosis are so different today that their earlier stuff is really difficult to compare to their new stuff anyways. They didn't get worse or better, they just took a different path. Almost all their Albums (except for the first 2, OK) are masterpieces.
