I don't care for Korn too much. My sister, however, is a huge fan. She saw them at least two times live this year and kept on playing me the newest samples from See you on the other side through the phone during the last weeks. Well... I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe I'll give the final album a more decent listen, but I agree with those of you who find them repetitive.
To cut things short: I definitely like some of their songs and listen to Korn from time to time - and that's it.
Korn was pretty mucht he first metal band i really got into. I saw em live a few years back and they put on a great show. I have all the albums up to Untouchables, but having said that i don't listen to them much. The first album rocked. The second had good great stuff, and some stupid songs (Kunt anyone?) Freak On A Leash again had some excellent songs but the rap thing could just fuck off as far as i was concerned. Issues was underrated, some good stuff. Untouchables was awful really. It sounded so computery it was unreal. A couple of good tunes (i love Hear to Stay) but i lost interest after that.
OK, let's See It From The Other Side
I really liked Untouchables. I liked their previous records too. What I like about KoRn is their being a band that doesn't really care what people say and doing their own stuff - it's the same with EACH and EVERY successful band on this planet in its history, probably. KoRn doesn't score points on my list for their 'pick up some soldiers on their way home using our private jet'-like actions, neither for playing the first concert @ some crazy altitude (though that's just plain freakin', even if Britney did it)... They score points for the music (as I've never ever got really involved into their personal stories, ideals, heck I can't even tell Munky from Head, probably ) (yeah, before you bash me in, I _do_ know that Head is an ex-KoRnette ).
Anyway, my point is the following: I like the latest record - it's fresh, it's catchy enough, Twisted Transistor is a nice tune and Liar is a hammer applied to the ears-n-brains. Mind you, I never got emotional with the attitudes presented by vocalists, I crave for the pure joy of sound and vocals some music has to offer. And in KoRn's latest effort's case I have to say "WAY TO GO, DUDES!"

Yes but as i was 16-19 during Nu-metal's hey day and all i listened to before that was pop punk, Madness and Queen it was certainly metal as far as I was concerned! I bought Korn, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and got really into the whole thing. At around age 19 i started growing out of it, and becoming cash strapped. I sold my Limp Bizkit albums (pretty bloody quickly), Papa Roach albums and Linkin Park album, but i held on to my Korn.
Of course now i know better. I hope.
