Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

If they were going to confiscate and destroy all known copies of any recording by either Rush or Abba, which should get to survive? In other words, if you had to choose between either saving Rush or Abba, which do you choose?

Let's say that one of them has to go. Hypothetically, the people of the world must choose either Rush or Abba. The losing group will surrender all extant copies of any recordings under penalty of life in prision. Who would you rather listen to at the expense of the other? The entire world will no longer hear one of the two. Which gets to stay?

I'm proposing this poll because I can't believe so many were indifferent to Rush in that thread but Abba got all kinds of love. Show me I misread the threads!

Oh, and I vote for Rush. I know I can live without Abba. But not Rush. That band is essential.

Gurp, this poll fuckin' rules!

But, to be honest - I do know who Rush are, I've read things about them and I might have heard a song or two, but by far not enough to make this decision. I liked what I heard since it was really interesting and different than the usual mainstream rock, but... Dude, I know most of the ABBA smash hits since I was child! It would be just... unfair if I voted.

But again, good thread nonetheless

I don't really know either of 'em. I've heard of them, but I don't really know them. But I'll just vote Rush just for the heck of it, and to get my parents pissed off.

Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers of all time.

Well, I don't care much for Rush, but Abba are flaming fucking homotrons. So I vote to forever extinguish Abba.

"You talkin' to me?"

I'm a purveyor of Simpsons quotes and some sexual services here and there, yes, I admit that - but a purveyor of prog? Uhm... And as far as my roots are concerned, I'm not going to talk about this air-guitar thing again... (at the age of four when The Who were playing)

Oh wait, more information finds its way into my little brain - Rush are from Canada, right? And I remember Gene saying that Neil Peart was one of his favourite drummers when he started drumming himself.

Oh well. And at the end of the day, I still only know one or two Rush songs.

(look at my proggy "Now playing" - song!)

I take it from your reply that you mean to say you're not really into prog so much. Let me rephrase. Since you like listening to Dev, I would find it hard to believe you wouldn't like Rush. I am sure that Devin has been strongly influenced by Rush. As you say, Gene has been so influenced. Anyway, lots of people consider DTB prog in the good sense. I'm not one of those to use "prog" as a perjorative. But, then, I like prog so that might be why.

Removing Abba from the planet could only be a good thing, I mean don't kill them or anything but destroying their music would work... also it would render my next door neigbours record player usless so that only helps.
