subject says it all, I've absorbed all of the DTB stuff and love it all (except physicist but that's just a matter of preference) and I'm looking for more.

I'm about as green as it gets when it comes to new(ish) metal/prog so if you guys could point me in a direction or two I would send you wet kisses of appreciation over the internet.

bands, albums, or even just great songs that sound like devy could have been involved...

Yeah. They're like a less heavy version of Dev...kinda.

Regardless, their music is really good.

Definately Porcupine Tree, if only for the sheer talent and variety of music with this band.

Some others have compared DTB to a band called Deadsoul Tribe...though I havent heard much of this band. Perhaps somebody else can elaborate.

Agreed........

I keep thinking we should eventually do a tour with Porcupine Tree. IMO, they would be the perfect touring band for the DTB to tour with.

I second that. Try and get on the current tour, as I'm going to see them in December in Cambridge England, that would be perfect...a man can hope, heh.

They are a great band, my Dad got me into them and me and him will be going to the show. I've been trying to get him into the DT/DTB stuff, but he didnt like Terria to much. He isnt a big fan of heavier more modern metal, so Mountain and Earth Day didnt sit to well with him. But apparently it got better after thoes tracks for him, so who knows, given time, heh.

Ryan, you don't understand.

Devin Townsend Band and Porcupine Tree touring together would be like gathering all the Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Norse, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, and all the other Gods I forgot together and rocking out.

The skies would part. The earth would shatter. Nothing that awesome can ever happen; the laws of physics just wouldn't allow it.

Hm... Seems as if I'd disagree with everyone who posted in this thread so far, but I don't think that Porcupine Tree is the answer to the topic's question. It's not like they wouldn't have anything in common at all, for example I love both for their ability to combine heavy and and more quiet and melodic parts, but, no, to me PT aren't "like" the DTB. Actually I can't think of any other artist or band right now that would really fit...

But Devy and PT touring together...?

Would be KILLER

I agree, I dont think they sound alike at all....its just that they play a similar selection of music.

Maybe there are no other bands that sound like the DTB...

There is very little, if anything, that actually sounds like Devin Townsend.

This is a little left field, but the other night I threw in Silverchair's latest CD, "Diorama", for the first time in over two years. I enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. It doesn't sound like DTB really, but they both use more progressive music construction and lyrically i think they're closely related.

I was never a fan of Silverchair but I've always been a HUGE fan of Daniel Johns' ability. Nothing like DTB at all, but I really like where he's going with his music and the Dissociatives is another step in that direction.

I agree that there's NOTHING out there that's really "like" DTB. It's a pity but it's a bit of a testament to Dev's unique abilities and all that.
