Dear HDF members!

Are you ready to make a change?
Are you willing to bring the Street Team back?
Have you got enough guts to read this post right till its end?
(No? I knew it...)
(Thank you for your attention)
(Those who feel like reading this, let's carry on)

What you are going to read is a draft of a draft, something that is NOT a plan, just a sketch. It needs polishing, ideas, flavour, ardour and passion. It needs us and our constructive criticism. It need RESPONSE.

Its about spreading the word to all the people who could get to know SYL, DTB and all the other aspects of the great music coming from the people who frequent this forum just like we, the fans do. There is NO certainty on how it will look like, as the points mentioned below are just a collection of thoughts on the subject of HDR-info-proliferation.

You might find this a heap of bullshit, why not... In that case don't just stand and wave dismissingly or turn and go away. Leave a note of instruction, a hint on what could be done and how it could be done... Appreciation guaranteed!

yours sincerely,

Vesper, a music fan

PS. spacing - not MY fault... I am just pasting it from the notepad â„¢ ;)

# Phase

1. REPORT IN.

We need at least one person from each country represented on the HDF OR at least three people from each continent as coordinators. There is no upper limit. Everyone is welcome, all help is appreciated. Let's make this a joint effort at bringing good music to the masses. If some of you think that they cannot handle that much fun (cause it's all fun, and just a bit of responsibility, which I personally detest anyway when there's too much of it), here are the requirements:

- frequent access to the net and the HDR/HDF (you ought to drop in at least once/twice a week, twice a week would be more than perfect)

- enough computer skills to copy and paste text, download some files off the internet and click some links (if you think you can do more than that, you already have earned yourself a general's hat there), perhaps print something and be nice to your local xerox point

- artistic skills of the digital kind are more than welcome; photographers contributing their pics to the HDR website already count as a part of the family - sorry to leave you no choice, people... - we shall improve Dev's and the boys' looks, after all, not even one of them won a Miss Universum Contest (I dunno about the Mister Universum one, so playing safe here...) - what I mean by that is that there should be a small team of people dedicated to creating some nice pieces of promo stuff like banners, animations, wallpapers, flyers and whatever comes to your mind (I know you did a lot of such things, you can't hide, yes, I mean you... and you... and that guy in the funny hat hiding in the back as well)

- a proper command of English (so we understand each other) and your native language (so the people you contact in HDR/HDF issues understand you properly); by 'proper' I also understand a register sufficiently elevated to address official people on official issues; if you feel like a small kid with those things, don't worry, some material will be there for you just to forward it to the right people you will find in the next phase

- extra stuff - if you have any media contacts (press, radio or even TV) - don't be ashamed, we can help you with that problem ;); musical merchandise insight is also a very nice asset, as we want HDR'R'US to replace that terrible IKEA chain *shivers* (has anyone seen the names on those things? OUTRAGE!); in the long run, everything you think might be valuable to our cause counts

2. ACQUIRE TARGETS.

To achieve global domination (and we are not aiming at anything lower than that), we must know where to strike to make them know of us and HDR. Concentrate on that part of the internet, that you know best (language-wise). I don't think I could be a crackshot with French or Japanese media, but I think some of you would show us what, who and why in that respect. What matters most? Here are the targets that are the extra stunt bonus ones:

- music magazines, both on- and offline ones
- music portals and communities in the genre (rock, metal, alternative - so that noone attempts to push SYL or DTB to some disco lovers... experiments later ;))
- alternative radio stations, both on- and offline ones
- alternative radio shows in more mainstream stations
- concert agencies - i.e. people who organize events and make artists move their lazy assess on the map
- your local rock/metal pub/shop owners
- your friends in music

While it is obvious that the two last entries on this list require a specific degree of familiarity in contacting them, the big guns of the industry and the media will have to be approached on a different level, and we would like to make it a standardized one (read: thou shall not send any official emails/letters/bombs/dead cats to official people without the Street Team knowing what, when and why you sent); this will enable the Street Team to work like a good machine should; the Street Team forum will be our HQ, threads will be created to suit each channel of communication once we set up a working net of contacts out there.

Think. Make a list. Think again. Complete the list. Have it ready in a digital format (txt/doc). Get ready to learn what nasty things you will do to them...

3. DEBRIEF.

Once we know who is with us, and who is against us (thanks, GWB), it will be time to assign some missions to the ones willing to become the kamikaze for the glory of... Well, ok, I got a bit carried away. What I mean is that we will know whom to approach, and it will be YOU (and me too, don't think I will miss all the fun :P) to do it. We shall coordinate the whole operation via the forums/emails/communicators and we can even use some pigeons if necessary. Nothing can stop us (cheesy, eh?).

4. EQUIP.

Everyone will be handed out the necessary means of promotion. Flyers, posters, banners, more or less official letters, all the techniques to apply more Devymusic to your own piece of land shall be at your disposal (I am considering the formation of a special cheerleader group once we get those nice uniforms and fluffy thingies made ;)

I hope that if we show our readiness and numbers, Century Media will be more than happy to pass some promo items for us to use. After all, we can help them with promotion, too. Who said we have to limit only to HDR? Global domination requires global appetites! *burp* (excuse me)

5. BEGIN MISSION.

We shall let the sonic warhounds loose. We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our music whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, HDR or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our empire in the net, armed and guarded by the Admin and all Mods, will carry on the struggle until in God's good time the New Flesh with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the Old from the shackles of musical despair. (thanks Winston, you really ruled...)

6. AFTERMATH.

Imagine this: you wake up, turn on the radio, and suddenly discover that they're playing the latest SYL single. You turn on the Tv, and Gene's hosting the weather report. On the cover of the latest TIME magazine you see Jed smiling. The DTB Bunch is the most successful real-life docu ever. Dev can finally make his dreams come true, and becomes a professional golfer. Byron becomes a superhero in his free time, and the Evenlight Ensemble are his sidekicks, selling more comics than Batman and Spiderman combined. HDR buys out Microsoft shares and makes Bill clean the toilets at the countless shows the guys play. Isn't that a world worth fighting for?
Now, wake up, and face the reality. We will have great fun while making those people suddenly wake up and realise there's been a lot of great music they somehow happened to miss. I know I felt like that. You probably felt like that, too. Let's make some other people feel like that!

---

Now, let's hope this evolves into a good discussion and/or planning thread on the subject... I am off to work again for another 2 weeks, so it's all up to you (mwahahahaha) - share your ideas and thoughts, PLEASE!

But now the street team activity goes to the SYL management. The subscribtion form will be posted on the SYL site soon. And then J. and D. from the SYL management will give you the last updates about it on the new SYL board to come
