Seriously, I have a lot of friends who are wiccan and if anything, wiccans are the most laid back and accepting of any religion I've seen yet.
That's ridiculous.
What was it I heard on the radio the other day? Oh a car dealership talking about financing for the "financially challenged."

I'd rather be a broke-ass short bitch than a "financially and vertically challenged assertive young woman" any damn day, lmao.

:p That was pretty fun.
And I agree that political correctness sucks. Now, I'm a longheared vegetarian bisexual anarchist non-conformist. Does that make me a "free-growing, sexually, dietary, politically challenged young man", or just another random freak?

I thought I was the only free-growing, dietary, politically challenged young man on this board? Great to meet another one. We need some more vegetarians in the metal-scene.
I'm not bisexual, but what kind of world would it be, if we were all the same? :)

Only the fact that you're from Norway makes you a freak..... JUST KIDDING!!!
It seems like Scandinavia has much more anarchists / non-conformists than the rest of Europe. What am I still doing in Holland??? Argh...

BlueRaja wrote:Here is a perfect example of "political correctness":

Wicca (search), an ancient pagan belief rooted in worshipping nature, is recognized by the federal government as a religion and followers openly practice witchcraft, complete with magic potions.
Ludicrous, innit?

OK then...I sense a plan here.
At the last Aussie Federal Census I and sufficient numbers of others wrote "Jedi Knight" as the answer to the "What religion is ya?" question. Apparently enough so that the Government must recognise it as a valid religion in this country (I think a similar thing happened in the U.K. as well).

Now, as a Jedi Knight it is my sworn duty to right wrongs and uphold the power of good throughout the galaxy, and therefore I would like a word with a Mr. Lucas, G.

His first 2 Star Wars "prequels" were an affront to my sense of self and my belief in the Force as a binding power of redemption and goodness...

*rolls sleeves up* I'm gonna sue that bastoid for squillions...

Well, I wasn't referring to the government recognizing Wicca as a religion as the example of PC, because I could really care less. I thought the whole thing of calling off Halloween for the school children because it might offend a real witch as political correctness running rampant. Stoooooooopid.

I heard about the Jedi Knight thing in the U.K. Don't know whatever happened with it. I can't wait for the next Star Wars, only because I have to know what exactly happened to Vader...but at the same time I'm scared! I'm sure you understand why.

Give Lucas my .02 as well. And maybe some extra for killing off Darth Maul so easily. Grrrr.Image

Seven people in every thousand in England and Wales gave their religion as 'Jedi' in the 2001 Census.

A campaign on the internet claimed - wrongly - that Jedi, the belief system at the heart of the Star Wars films, would receive official government recognition as a religion if enough people quoted it on their Census forms. An email in support of the campaign, quoted by BBC News, invited people to 'do it because you love Star Wars... or just to annoy people.'

Just over 390,000 of the 52,000,000 people in England and Wales wrote in 'Jedi' on their census form.

I'm probably several pages too late in this thread, but I just wanted to add a somewhat basic response to the question in saying that, in the case of America, it's politics in a non-political country. If you look at the way elections and 'politics' in general are organised there, it's more like a sport than anything else. For the majority, it's about supporting your team and making sure they win, whether they're good or bad. That's not politics, that's a non-physical sport.

Sometimes it seems like the mentality among many Americans is that of a Batman film: good against bad. Without Bin Laden or Saddam, there would always be somebody else. The governments are in a very lucky position that they just need to arrange things like a hyped football game, and they'll get as much support as they want.

But how can things like that change when the majority of the people dont actually understand what world affairs are? When was the last time a war was fought on home soil, like it was in most places in Europe, the middle east, Africa...? It's technically illogical for somebody who has never understood the real consequences of a very bad political system to vote for anything, because the truth hasnt hit home for them. What dictators are doing to the weaker people in their countries, America is currently doing to the weaker countries, and has been doing it for some time.

Lastly, I would like to mention how Bush and many Americans look down on Cuba as a communist failure where the government treats the citizens in immoral ways. How many American citizens are actually aware that Cuba has a much higher literacy rate than America has ever had, and that the REAL root of the problems Cuba suffers are caused by American boycotts on Cuba? The fact that Cuba has withstood the boycotts, survived, educated their people better than the Americans can educate their own, and has gotten there on a communist system that the Americans tell us is bad, is worthy of more respect in my eyes than that which we should show any American government of current or previous years.

And if Kerry is the lesser or two evils, then I cant even understand how somebody could consider Bush again. Who cares if Kerry has changed his mind? The Bush administration has done it more often, with more consequences than Kerry. There are real issues that need to be faced when considering who you'll vote for, and none of the real issues point in the direction of Bush.

As I've said, I probably posted this a few pages too late, but what the hell?
