Personally, I plan to vote for Kerry. I have friends who plan to vote for Bush, and even my fiancee may be voting for Bush, her reasoning partially being that after hearing what Kerry had to say at the debates, she liked what he said, but doesn't realistically think he'll be able to carry it out. My republican/conservative friends because they really do believe he's doing a good job, they think that it might be dangerous to change leadership in the middle of this whole mid-East cluster-fuck, and they remember the huge checks they got from Bush's tax cut after his first year in office. When you pay people, it makes a difference.
Personally, I'm almost a full-blown socialist according to every political quiz or test I've ever taken. The word "tax" is so loaded that it's almost impossible to have a calm discussion over it. Taxes aren't necessarily a bad thing. When taxes get cut, it means that things one takes for granted aren't getting paid for anymore without one thinking about it, so, while one might have more take-home pay after a tax cut, you're just turning around and spending it on something that you used to not have to worry about paying for. The phrase "big government" doesn't scare me, it's a spin tactic that the right uses to scare us commoners.
