Well Youthanasia was the first Megadeth album i ever listened to a lot. So its my own personal favourite even if its not their best. I think Rust in Peace kicks ass.

Yeah I got "The System Has Failed" and think it's a fucking damn brilliant album. I offered a copy to Geoff & Ryan at the PP, and when Devin saw it in the hands of Ryan he told that was a great album with very good production. I was so surprised (and pleased) to hear Dev' likes Megadeth, as Dave Mustaine is another artist I enjoy VERY much...

Not going to bother with the Remasters. The earlier albums sound great as is.....

All time favorite for me is So Far, So Good...So What. Jeff Young & Dave Mustaine gelled so well together on that disc.

Seems like all the music mags harp on about how "Peace sells..." is the best one. "Rust in Peace" seems to get over looked. I still listen to it to this day. An absolutely blinding album!

Just bought the remastered "So far... so good" album cos i fuckin' love "Into the lungs of hell!" Great intro to an album!

I have all the old versions and all the remix/remasters and there is a HUGE difference between the two versions. I love the way the remasters sound, especially on the old albums (particularly SFSGSW), and I was surprised at what big difference there was in the sound of the newer albums with the boosted bass and more powerful drum sound.

I really liked The System Has Failed when I first got it, but after a couple of weeks, I barely even listen to it at all. It was touted as being this return to the RIP era and all that, and the fact is that it just falls flat. The production is great, but there are only 2 songs that recall the aggression of the RIP era, Blackmail the Universe and Kick the Chair. Die Dead Enough is a good song too, but it's basically Trust Pt. 2 in that it's tailor-made for radio. The Scorpion is pretty good too, but after that it just kinda goes downhill and those are the only 4 songs that stay with you, I just want to change discs after I hear those 4. Personally, I don't think Dave Mustaine has pushed himself as a musician or songwriter since Rust In Peace (except maybe on Risk and parts of Cryptic Writings), and when you stop pushing yourself in one or both of those areas, you begin to put out dull, uninspired material.

*puts on Holocaust cloak* Flame away!

Chalk one up for Youthanasia here. Friggin' love that album.

I have all the remasters and The System Has Failed, all of which are great. Since when were the remasters copy-protected?

Rust in Peace!
Go get it now! It sounds 1000 times better that worn out cassettes! As far as the new album.... mmmm.... Dave can do better. As far as I am concerned, they peaked with Rust in Peace.

Rust In Peace. No doubt.
"Holy Wars" and the title track are unbelievable riffaramas!

What is the remaster of RIP like cf. the original?

I have all the original Megadeth cd's. I bought the Remaster of Youthanasia. Mainly because of the whole cd is damned cool. But Rust In Peice gets my vote as favourite Megadeth cd. I will most likely pick up the Remasters slowly as they are not that expensive in our local HMV. Budget price basically, i recall them being around £8.99 when i got the Youthanasia Remaster about a month ago. The new megadeth cd The System Has Failed. This cd is pretty decent. It tokk a couple of listens to really like it. But i think this cd is great.

:D
