The solo on "floods" and the last part of the song are incredible ...

I used to think that Driven was the stuff but I have since realized that Trendkill has more variety, more extremity and better production, so I'd have to say that that one wins for me. It is indeed a shame that Phil had to go turn into a typical fuckhead junkie, but hey.... He wasn't too brainy at the best of times.

Vulgar Display Of Power!

That is their best one, their highest moment. Far Beyond Driven was ok, though little monotonic, but it's been downhill ever since. Pantera is still one of my favourite bands. I hope Phil can clear his head and continue with Down. Down II is his best "outside-of-Pantera" record.

For those people (are there any?) who haven't heard Pantera never before, i recommend Vulgar's last song, Hollow. One of the best metal songs ever.

Trendkill is very various and that is also curious to see that you have three "ballads" (well, mellow songs) on the record (10's, floods, suicide note part 1) ...

The only thing that sucks is that Phil sings an anti MTV hit (trendkill) and he did a show for them some years later ... I would be curious to hear how he can explain his faithul metal integrity there :)

Hummm I love DOWN II but I miss the spontaneity of the NOLA record.
5 guys, 5 buddies, playing together just for fun, recording tunes, throwing their influences here and there to make a great record

I wish they could go back together and I think it's not impossible as Jimmy Bower (superjunk ritual bandmate) plays in DOWN too . However seems like pepper Keenan's priority is Corrosion of Conformity as he went back in the band (after a short break up) ...

We'll see, I also wait the next Crowbar to make surface ...

That was Megadeth, and dare I say somewhat overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like Megadeth. New album is great, BTW.

"Vulgar..." for me, knocked me off the chair completely back in the day. Damn, Phil sang like a god...Too bad he couldn´t stay away from the drugs, I hate to see shit like that happen.

I voted FBD. No band can ever replace Pantera. SJR sucks ass, and Damageplan is boring. I would have thought that since Damageplan has Dimebag on the axe he would come up with some great riffs like he always does......But NO...

My vote was for The Great Southern Trendkill. That album is fantastic. I love all the other albums on that list, but trendkill tops them all for me. Listen to the solo in floods, dimebag is the master of the pinch harmonic.

Insanely heavy. Great album.

I went for Trendkill. I tend to like about half the songs on most Pantera albums and not the rest. With Trendkill I like about 3/4. There are some really great tunes there. Dimebag and Vinnie were definitely the best thing about Pantera. BTW Zakk is the master of the pinch harmonic!

Vulgar. They were really good all the way from Cowboys to Trendkill, but Vulgar clearly takes the cake. It's got pretty much everything that Pantera can come up with, mellow stuff, heavy stuff, catchy stuff...maybe not as catchy as Underground In America, but No Good (Attack The Radical) is pretty damn catchy. I love the close-to-rap vocals.
Also, I don't think Phil was really such a bad lyricist. Some of his stuff made no sense, but a lot of it did.

So low behold my eyes, this land of fools will rise...

The lyrics from Vulgar to Trendkill were mostly really good, I thought. The lyrics on NOLA were also really good, but after Trendkill, his lyrics just got bad. SJR's lyrics are so stupid, and partly because he thinks they're so philosophical and high-falootin'.
