I'm a huge fan of Iced Earth...they're the band that got me into metal outside of Metallica and Megadeth*!

I finally got to see them this past April in Philly...fantastic show.

*Megadeth fucking rules

Well if some people won't listen to Iced Earth because they don't like the name or the album covers, then you are a fool. I am sorry. But IMO the name of a band does not always tell you the music style etc. Iced Earth has probably one of the best rhythm guitarists ever in jon Shaffer. Regardless to your opinion of him, he is a fabulous guitarist. And now new vocalist Tim Ripper Owens, and Bobby Jarzombrek (Ex Halford band to name on band he's been in), i guess the best way to explain their sound to people to don't know, Straight heavy metal/thrash mixed with shades of power metal. But not full on power metal like say Gamma Ray or Helloween. Ripper Owens is my favourite singer, 2nd is Dev, 3rd is Bruce. goto SPV.com to listen to a couple of samples from iced Earth's latest album. If you like heavy metal and Judas Priest style vocals you might just like iced Earth's new album!!....

I don't want to piss anyone off, but i think everyone should try a new band every now and again.

Never Turn Your Back On The Ripper.....

hello Seventhframe.....those are some great pics of the recent tour. Their last album was the first in their career that got into the billboard top 200. yes only entered 145...but its a start. With The Ripper, they have had a new lease of life added to them...Great crunchy heavy metal....now with the Rippeeeeeeeeeeeeeer on vocals!!...

hahahaha!

Look at his wang!

As for Iced Earth, I'm just generally not interested in that kind of metal. I'll check them out, just for you. But if it's that horrid non heavy sub-NWOBHM screaming and wailing shit, you're in deep trouble!

In fact Tim owens the singer was in a judas priest tribute band before he joined Judas priest when Halford left ... So you won't be surprised by the vocals, I always thought he was the Halford clone, even on stage.

I don't say the guy is not good, he is an awesome vocalist, but with Priest he was just a guy trying to be someone he is not

Good work!

Great album. I was always a little afraid of the cover. The eyes of the people running away from the robot are freaky.

There best albums were Night At The Opera, Day At The Races and Queen II.

wow i didn't think many people around here would embrace the brilliance of Queen... so much great music... add to those mentioned Queen I, Sheer Heart Attack, The Works, and Made In Heaven (overproduced, but oh so moving!)

oh sorry it's an Iced Earth topic... i've never seen such a self-fulfilling poll... if there were an "Oh god, i can't believe i once half liked them!" option i'd choose it.

Iced earth, hmmm...I really liked "Something wicked...", but nothing else has caught my attention. I found the new album a bit boring and repetitive

I never really liked Queen I that much - awful production and the songs were really poorly written. Apart from Keep Yourself Alive. Agree with SHA and MIH (although some of it was a bit too Europop). Innuendo was a great album (Ride The Wild Wind being a personal favourite).

Although some of their stuff from the 80s was good, a lot of it was terrible. Don't Lose Your Head (no don't lose your head ... don't lose your head) being a perfect example of bad Queen. Plus Freddie forgot how to sing during the 80s. Wembley was a good performance, but the singing was by Roger with Freddie getting what he could. Thankfully he learnt again in the 90s.

Anyway, Iced Earth, eh?
