On which subject, unless I'm missing something, the whole Retinal Circus thing didn't mention DTP. Plenty of DTP stuff at the merch stand, and the DTP logo was in the visuals a lot, but the gig itself was "Devin Townsend Presents..." or similar.

It's very simple, cool and clear, so it's definitely a logo worth keeping.

At work, I sometimes end up in meetings with these guys http://www.dtpgroup.co.uk/, and a DTP tshirt occasionally gets some odd looks... :)

this is from the Metal Hammer Devy magazine:

I'm finishing Casualties of Cool at the moment. That'll be the end of the Devin Townsend Project. Essentially I saw the movie Moon and I was really inspired by the aesthetics of it, so what Casualties of Cool ended up being was inspired by that. After Deconstruction, the main character from the first four DTP albums went so far into his process that he realised that the whole cheeseburger revelation is not something he can understand and it short circuits his brain. He exposes himself to all this shit that blows his mind. If he hadn't known about the cheeseburger, perhaps it would've been a little bit easier to just go eat a McDonald's or whatever. But you can't unring a bell, right? It's like doing acid for example. Man, when i did that stuff when I was a teenager and in my 20s I had no idea that all the shit was lurking under the surface, but now, well, there you go! I've seen it now! Someone says 'You wanna go to McDonald's and eat a burger?' Well I'd love to, but for some reason now I just can't! Ha ha ha!

So Epicloud and Casualties of Cool are a continuation of the story?
Yeah. So after Deconstruction and Ghost are all done, Epicloud comes out and it's this big 'One more time for the world!' singalong, dancing thing and praising the universe and religion is bullshit but spirituality is important and so on. It's not an empty statement emotionally but it's too big and too much for me, so my suit becomes empty and then, on Casualties..., this guy is on the moon, just watching Epicloud and all he's got to keep him company is this old AM radio that plays these old haunted 50s songs. They're so limited and stripped down that it's just pure horror. It's a completely desolate, cold, isolated record, but the music is totally contrary to what the vibe is. The thing that allowed me to make Epicloud led me to make Casualties..., and Casualties... is where I'm at. I've never made anything that quiet or that background or that dark, in a certain sense. But I love it

Given that it is intended to be a collaboration with Che Aimee Dorval, her name has to be somewhere in the title. Unless she backed out of it.

Same here. The DTP records had a huge impact on me, and I think speak to me more (probably because I was around when they actually came out). I love the old records, don't get me wrong, but each of the DTP records reflect something personal for me. Getting the DTP logo makes sense, whereas getting the DTB logo, for example, wouldn't as much.

Also, for me, despite what Dev says, the DTP, conceptually anyway, ended at Ghost. Ghost will always be the close for me; Epicloud and Casualties are outliers. While they may continue the "story," for me they'll always be separate. I LOVE Epicloud, and I'll reserve judgement for Casualties until it's released, but the DTP story line is those four records, with maybe these two being: well, here's what happened in the aftermath.

I like to think of them as Appendices.

You Young'uns! You're making me feel old. DTB still feels new to me. Why it feels like only yesterday that people on the internet were arguing over whether to tag the first album's artist as Ocean Machine and not Devin Townsend.

Perhaps Che Devara?

I'm aware that was dreadful. :P Up until about two days ago I thought this was called Causalities of Cool. Which, in my opinion, sounds far better. :D

"Ripped off" doesn't begin to cover him not being nominated for an Oscar for Moon.
