Me too, actually. My favorite bands in the 80's were Van Halen, Rush, Huey Lewis and The News, Prince, and Metallica. I wanted to throw my favorite elements of all those bands into my music. I wanted to make feel-good party rock with heavy, crunchy riffs, a touch of prog, choirs, horns, and big hooks and choruses. I wanted to tour with it all, too. Choir, the Tower of Power horns, cage dancers, pyrotechnics, lasers, the works. Big, loud, obnoxiously happy music.

So yeah, I like this album.

I like it a lot too, I want to emphasize that.

There's just something missing somewhere for me for a whole album, and about 3 of the songs don't do that much for me. Better than most artists.

If I could marry Epiclouder, I would though.

When I found Dev's music on Terria it was close enough so I continued to follow his stuff and this sound has finally hit the nail on the head. I'm not saying it's my dream album or anything but it's definitely filled a gap in what I want out of music. Does anyone know what I mean?

Sort of... There's way too little fun in metal music. Aside from all the agressive and depressing shit everywhere, go to a show and 80% of the people is dressed in black. Why!? 90% of the music I listen to is metal, but I do not feel the urge to wear black. It's not a funeral. Not saying negative energy is bad... Ocean Machine is one of my favourite albums for example, if not my #1. But there should be more fun overall and negativity shouldn't be the norm. I request everyone to wear, yellow, white, pink and blue when going to shows. Enjoy your life goddamnit! Laugh! Love! Live! Learn!

i've worn mostly black tshirts and blue jeans since I was 5. No. And I take offense that you're inferring those wearing black don't enjoy life due to some sort of internal insecurity you've got going on, brah.

Maybe I'm not a good writer in this language, but you aren't the best reader either. I'm merely observing that the metal 'scene' is extremely dark. Two reasons I can think of: Mucisions who talk exclusively about misanthropy, blood, death and misery do not seem perfectly happy to me. Even if they are happy as persons, their music isn't exactly uplifting. There's too much metal music like this for my likings. This accounts for a large part of the negativity around heavy metal, but black clothing and stuff also has a share, at least for me. Black sends out a negative, or at least a not-fun signal. Not per definition, but I think you get what I mean.

I hear ya. Why do people need to wear a band shirt for a concert?...dev is an anomaly. Played a concert with bunny ears. Hes in it for the music....everyone else follows the leader. Yes metal is dark and he just brought some color to it. As far as wearing black and being labeled for it on a personal level, meh. But what you are saying is that you are sensitive to the emotion of music and the vibe of metals traditions. I love that he shed light on the good and peace that also exists in this music. Its not always a dark and angry place. And if this isn't what you meant...well I do.

Love epicloud, it doesn't disappoint. I'm not trying to wrap my head around anything. I love it and almost everything else the guy does in music.

Someone's post got deleted.

Eh, when it comes to gigs, dress how you want I say. All in black, all in white, or any color of the rainbow if you want. As long you're into the music and not being a dick to people, what does the color of your clothes matter?

Though admittedly I would raise an eyebrow if I saw someone dressed at a metal gig like they were attending a gangsta rap or techno club. Then I'd put them out of my mind because I couldn't care less.

Back on topic - payday tomorrow, putting money aside for this album.

Even then, when I saw Opeth in London on the Ghost Reveries tour there were people in below-the-arse baggy shorts, chains and squiw-iff baseball caps. London's diverse, so's music, so not really many people batted an eyelid.

Also, white isn't an ideal colour to wear to a show purely because it'll get both stained and see through from low flying beer. :P

Never make the 'mistake' of wearing white to a GWAR gig.
(unless you are super-cool and actually want to be covered in alien space jizz- aka shitloads of paint)

I have three white shirts in my closet back home that are trophies from GWAR gigs.

As for post deletion, twasn't me. I personally love it when someone who is more knowledgeable about a scene and what colors mean, and what most metal musicians believe tells me what's what. But that's enough of that. Nothing to see here kids
