Okay, I'll have one more listen at home through proper speakers THEN pretend it never happened. Grace sounds fantastic, I can see how sounds like that would be a nightmare to mix but really rewarding in the end.
Not overwhelmed by this preview. I don't like the overall sound, especially the drum sound, but i know of course that it

I fear they may be the songs that are so good but so painfully short. Like Silver Wings by Thrice. Such an amazing song, but so brief. Oh well, Devin has never disappointed, so I'm excited still.
well Dev did say it was going to be commercial, so therefore most commercial music will only go for 3-4 mins 5 tops.
Indeed he did. In my excitement I had forgotten that. I'm open to it though. Just because a song isn't long doesn't mean it's not good.

The only preview I didn't dig is "Lucky Animals"'s. Which means the whole thing's sounding pretty damn good.
Also, "More!" reminds me of Foo Fighters, and that is by no means a bad thing.

Hrm. I'm not sure how to feel, since these were mostly soaring choruses which I like but without context, it's hard to place. More! and Grace sure impress though
Effervescent: supercool.
True north: cool.
Lucky Animals: funny, but I love it.
Liberation: wow, love it!
Where We Belong: love it, but I knew that already. Can't wait to hear the whole song.
Save Our Now: meh. Obviously pop-influenced, by the way!
Kingdom: awkward to hear it like this. Cool shit.
Divine: meh. Not enough energy for my liking.
Grace: Brutal, but totally awesome! Makes up for Divine.
More!: Funny. And sounds like Punky Br

Just gave the trailer a listen; heard some very cool stuff in there... though, surprisingly, it didn't grab me by the throat like I thought it would. Octillus made a good point; the video was mostly huge, choir-driven choruses, which (while awesome) seemed to blend together when heard all at once. The album itself will be much more dynamic, I'm sure, so it's not anything I'm really concerned about.
Early highlights (for me): the quirky, off-kilter rhythm of Grace; the redone Kingdom (Dev sounds monstrous, as always); and the softer bits towards the end. Roll on September indeed...

This is exactly what I wanted. So very mega pretty and epic and er, loud. 'Hold On' reminds me a bit of 'slow me down'....Can't wait for this beaut!
True North sounds beautiful. Can't wait for this album.
reply 1000 of the epic thread. Honestly I'm a sucker for those huge melody driven choruses that seem to be prominent on this album.
OH MY FUCKING GOD.
Where We Belong going into Save Our Now? Dev, you've outdone yourself here. Guitar tones are thick and beautiful. That Axe-FX II is truly the future of guitar sounds.
shit.
EDIT: Anneke on Angel?
All that being said..

Sounds better than I expected but I was always quite skeptical of this album. I think the lack of 'umph' maybe that the samples sound like verses rather than choruses to me. But I think some tracks may have been better at a slight higher tempo. Anyway, more excited by this now and can't properly judge until I hear the full thing. I'm also happy that the rougher mixed songs (disc 2) don't sound particularly of infer sound or creative quality.
