man you so need to expand your views on death metal... there's a shedload of better DM bands out there with far better riffs than Arch Enemy are currently peddling.

heh... i was thinking that the other day. They were showing some Evanescence video on this free digital music channel, towards the end of the song, where they of course brought in the obligatory "goth" strings over the top of music which it didn't suit.... just made me think
"strings and female vocals a goth band does not make"

Ja-ja, I am the wrong person to talk to about death scene because I really do not like it at all. Does early Soilwork count? That's cool.

But I do like Arch Enemy and they have badass riffing.

I just think that the music Arch Enemy were making on the first couple of albums was far superior to anything they've written since Gossow was added to the ranks, which it's conveniently emerged since that *shock horror* Amott basically fired Johan Liiva and installed his girlfriend as the vocalist instead.

That said, her vocals and the occasional drums, are the only redeeming feature for me about Anthems Of Rebellion.

Only Arch Enemy and some songs of Nightwish have been "impressive" in that sense for me.

Arch Enemy vocals are not impressive but just good grunts, unless you try to imagine a little blond doing that.

The material with Johan was not interesting to me. The new stuff with Angela really does kick my ass and I am not afraid to admit it.
