My first reaction: Meh.
Some good tracks, some bad. It's just so sweet. what I like about Devin's music is the marriage between heavy and mellow. The balance has shifted these last two albums, and not in a positive way.
I know what the point of this quadtych is, mellow, poppy, heavy and peaceful. But still, it would have been better if those four albums would have been condensed into one.

Well, the whole deal is the albums are aspects of the music that he writes. There's bits of Ki, Addicted, Decon, and Ghost all over his discography. If you really want to hear them all mashed together, you could listen to Infinity or Synchestra or something.

But I like both of those things!

I want to go to this place in a nearby town that has 4 enormous windmills right off the road, and just sit in my car listening to the album whilst observing the windmills. I think it would kick ass.

I feel like that's the problem. I feel like he is restricting himself by adhering to these matrices.
Anyway, one more point of critique; The pan-flute annoyed me to no end. It often feels like it's laying on top of the mix.
It's also like the flutist can't stop doing a vibrato. Vibrato is part of how a pan-flute is supposed to sound, sure, but i didn't like that it was done constantly.
One last thing. All these choir-like sequences made up of Devin's voice. They are getting old. I realized they are part of Devin's trademark 'sound', but when listening I get a been there done that feeling.

The more I listen to these 2 new albums, the more I get annoyed. I placed a per-order some time ago, and I think I'll let it stand, if only because I wish to support Devin.
I guess my opinion is in the minority here, which is not surprising based on the name of this place.

I'm going to go with "you're just crazy".

To each his own, but as far as restrictions go, he wrote all this shit during the same period. He then tried to put it all together in a way that makes the most sense. But when he wrote it, it was all no holds barred. That's the whole point of DTP.

You can always make your own mix tape.

Ghost is indescribably beautiful.

It's definitely my 2nd favorite of the 4 albums (behind Addicted).

It's pretty amazing to watch Devin's evolution as an artist. Consider that he just started composing more subdued pieces of music and he's already capable of something as beautiful as Ghost!

anyone know how to get rid of the gaps in these Mp3s? Is there a program to make it gapless?

they play back gapless on most player software at this point. Winamp, iTunes, Songbird, foobar2000, they all scan and make sure the starts and ends of the MP3s ignore the dropouts caused by the header data. if they don't, try another player!

Ghost is great but Drench and Fall really have me pumped for Ghost 2..
