You're probably right. I'm completely retarded when it comes to music appreciation, I go straight for production and melody on tracks that I like instantly, whilst other tracks I slowly grow to love if I give them enough of a chance and listen to them over and over again.

Addicted was an instant hit with me, whereas it took a very good pair of headphones with extremely good bass definition for Ki to grow on me.

Totally know what you mean. I think it's natural for more distinct melodies to jump out first (Addicted is chocked full of them, Ghost has few). I had the same experience with Addicted and Ki as you. I'm curious, how do you think each one has held up over time? Because I found that well Addicted was awesome and an instant hit full of hooks, those things kind of lose their effect on me over time. I still love the album but eventually when the melodies get overplayed it doesn't have as much as an impact as say Ki, which took a longer time to initially appreciate.

Addicted is still played more on my morning drive to work than the other albums on my mp3 CD which has Ki, Synchestra, Ziltoid and a few other select tracks. it's probably my most played Dev album overall, despite Synchestra being my overall favourite. Ki still stands out, as I love the clarity of the drums and the bass subtlies, for example in the title track.

No point reviewing this album. The main reason being the majority of it is being lost in the mush of the 192Kbs rip.
Nearly all the detail from the bed tracks and ambience is lost, and with Dev more so than most, those parts are extremely important.

I fully agree. I had expectations (well, a guess to what I'd be hearing), and I needed that first listen to break down those expectations. The album didn't click for me at all that listen (aside from a few moments here and there), but I was kind of expecting to be less than 100% impressed on my first listen. It's been that way with almost all of Devin's albums for me, it's always taken me a few listens to really catch what he was going for. Ghost no less, it took me 3 solid listens to REALLY grab ahold of what was intended!

Ghost is flat-out awesome. Glad I got my pre-order in, these 2-second gaps at the end of the tracks kinda kill the flow! I'm willing to bet that the seamless transitions from track-to-track on Ghost are more important on this album than on Synchestra, which (barely) is my favorite DT album.

If you really wanted you could open them up in something like Audacity then trim off the ends, the problem is you'll need to re-encode them when you save them, thus loosing more quality.

Had a wonderful walk in nature to Ghost today, weather was nice and overcast which really added to the effect. Also lots of wildlife out today too. Anyone who's looking for their first listen still, or maybe 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, should take to a forest or other space of nature with it. You'll be glad you did.

The first half the album, up to Blackberry, really works walking through a wooded area, while I feel the second worked better for me looking out on the river down from my house. It really does add the whole listening experience, in case you're thinking I'm crazy by now. I think I'll have trouble listening to this inside the house! :P

Guys... I gotta say. I'm only on my first listen (Blackberry playing as I type this) but all I feel I need to say is this:

Woke up in a terrible mood. I now feel very relaxed and content. For that ALONE this album is a success.

This is even better than what I expected.. And totally different. After my third listen, my favorite is the title track, but that will probably change really soon... And selecting one track is not easy anyway, the album is really someething that's meant to be listened together... Thankfully, I have the leak without the gaps between the songs, that completely ruins the flow.
