I think kickstarter was mentioned before (There's an artist called Adam Beane who's using it for his instructional DVD, pretty amazing guy!), but I dunno what the dealio with that would be :B

Dev's too nice. It's terrible.

Hey Dev...wee idea...

I saw someone on your Twitter suggest you opened a Paypal to fund ZTV, what about...offering G2 as a download...BUT; people can pay however much they want for the download? Be it $0.00 or $12, or even $100 (lolwhat) that way, you're not asking for money for nothing :3 I've seen it one before, surprisingly a lot of people paid about the same as if they were buying the CD. Loads of people will download it for free, but I'd totally pay for it! :D

I think this is an awesome idea. I think it may totally piss off the label, though. It's one thing to release music for free, but once money is involved, lawyers usually get involved, as well. I don't think the label would appreciate Dev selling his music without them getting a cut.

It all depends on whether or not ghost 2 or any of the material on it were ever discussed as being part of whatever deal Devin has. If it's an all-inclusive deal (not something I think he'd get into) I don't that's going to happen, but since it seems like everyone only owns the rights of distribution, if Ghost 2 was never part of said deal, he can likely do what he wants with it. Whether that pisses folks off or not, that's another story.

I just can't imagine any label seeing one of their signed artists selling music for profit without them getting a cut, and being happy about it and not wanting to take legal action to stop it/get paid for it. Especially considering that this was music intended to be released as official before the idea of a double CD was scrapped.

It seems like pretty dangerous water to tread, especially if you are on good terms with the label at the moment.

Agree... Devin sad that the label guys are ok with him and they are nice people so upsetting them...? don't know...but paying directly to author is good idea.

Agreed. Dev, you could use Bandcamp!

It's this really nifty site where you upload your music to stream full length tracks (high quality, none of that Myspace BS) for free and even offer downloads in pretty much any format. You have your own micro site and can set your own price. (Even name-your-own-price) All you need is a Paypal account really. You could use your Twitter to promote it as well.

See, check out Sufjan Stevens' Bandcamp as instance.

It really is amazing.

I'll figure it out, my future seems like it could go in many different directions.

If I could find an angle to make a real good living, I'd love to release it all for free, but your right...pissing off the label and management doesn't seem like the best move...

At least the artwork for free?

Will recieve my Shure SRH 840 headphones tomorrow. Can't wait, cause I've never had proper audiophile quality headphones. Should be good... And with a very long life due to replacable cables and other parts.

Ghost 2 artwork is giving me some Silent Hill vibes as well... Good job by Travis once again.
Oh and props to Scherz for mentioning that face on the background. I didn't even notice it on the first look. Creepy!

We could put you in a pretty dress and stick you in a window on the red light district?

Maybe?

We'll think of something, poppet.

I was wondering..

Devin, is it more frustrating that Decon leaked as it may affect it's sales (I hope not) It's the album that probably cost a lot more money to make.

I can imagine that any leak is not ideal though.

I mentioned this in another thread, Dev should absolutely set up a Paypal account. I'm a person who just downloads the albums and ends up buying them later just because I want to support him, not because I want to actual CD. I'd much rather send him a chunk of money directly rather than have it go through the labels and bureaucracy. That way I can also control how much I'm supporting him. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat.

Like two bowls of cottage cheese?

He wouldn't need to sell it, just do some sexy dances for the punters.
