Sounds like I've been under-estimating what this album may be. I've had the word "minimal" in my head since day one...glad to see I might be wrong.

Knew it since the acoustic show :) I mean Decon is the intellectual analysis of the how and why of heavy or at least based on what you've been kinda implying. So in a way that's kinda clinical and can be separated from the emotional self slightly. Ghost is clearly very close to your heart, man, it shows and that's why it makes me all the more excited.

Once you strip everything away, being bare like that can be intimidating for sure since there's not nearly as much of a concept to hide behind, but I'm awaiting the end result eagerly.

Signed,
One "super fan" :P

Yeah, thats the thing...

Every other record has a concept. I have always been under the impression that if I didn't guide the concept, it would just be nebulous.

Apparently it guides itself.

It is very beautiful though, yeah it may be darker than Ki in some ways, but it's got far less to prove, so the whole 'chest thumping' element isn't really present.

I think it's great.

Fuckin sign me up.

I'm not sure what I'm signing up for, but it may involve helmets and marmalade and I'd still be down.

To me, Ghost seems beautiful (or what I've heard of it), rather than dark. Beautiful means reflective to me, dark or not, something which can touch me emotionally. Decon seems like a shitstorm of intense, angry, antisocial music. Which is also beautiful.

I see where you come from about the concept, the same thing applies to me when I'm writing stories. I just blurt out words for an hour and see if it has the makings of a concept.

The more I read about Ghost the more excited I get! I am a really metal guy, so to speak.
Strapping was my introduction to all things Devy so in that sense I have been eagerly awaiting
Deconstruction ever since Strapping went away and I'm a bit ashamed to say that I didn't really
sit down and listen to the Devin solo stuff (except AE) until way after Ziltoid came out and I
sorely needed to hear something new. Now I love the solo albums even more than I love SYL,
as it has way more to offer in terms of emotion and overall just pretty much everything but
there is always that part of me that craves that insane metal overdose that only the Dev can
provide and that's why I piss myself in anticipation every time I think about Deconstruction.

During my rambling I've forgotten if this is the Ghost discussion or the Deconstruction discussion...

Ah, well I can't wait either way!

Does this mean the whole thing is clean vocals then?

It sounds exquisite. :D
Beautiful yet powerful in its own right, it sounds wonderful.
I must say though, it get compared to Ki a lot, whether it is their differences or similarities being noted. Or is that just me?

Devin:

I have no idea if you've ever listened to much "space music" (ambient/new age, whatever), artists like Vidna Obmana, Steve Roach, Michael Stearns, the sort of thing they play at Hearts of Space (hos.com), but some of your own ambient experiments remind me of that sort of thing... While Ghost sounds intriguing, I'd love to see you develop your ambient/soundscape talents some more as I think you have worlds of potential along those lines.

I just wanted to mention this in the hopes that if you weren't familiar with such artists, you might explore them and open yourself up to a whole new world of musical possibilities... that way I will have given the gift of music back to someone who has given me such a great music all these years. Cheers!

Yeah, there are 4 or 5 sections on Ghost that are reminicent of that type of 'hearts of space' stuff...

A whole album of it for me wouldn't say enough at this point, so having moments like that segue into grooves and melodies really works for me currently...

I've tried to get into spacemusic, like John Serrie, but like Dev said, I find it too lifeless.
It's good when I'm trying to sleep during a mania, though.

With each sentiment you give on Ghost, I just get more and more excited. I too have been regarding it as 'minimal' in terms of music, and seeing you say that it's not quite minimal at all, but rather heavy and brooding, that makes me really intrigued as to what you'll come out with. I like the fact that you refer to the process of this album as being more natural and organic; I think at this point, Ghost is the album I'm excited about most of all three of your upcomings.
