In terms of Meshuggah, I talk to Fred on occasion, and I get on with him real well. I love Meshuggah, (of course), but it's not what I do. And as time goes on, I get further and further from it.

When I do what I do, sometimes there's complicated bits, but only when it's what comes naturally. When they write, thats what comes naturally for them.

So yeah,...genius music that I don't really listen to much of. I bought Obzen and a Tiesto record the same day, and listened the heck out of Tiesto.

You ever consider collaborating with them? Even on just the production side? That would be a hell of a combination.

I tend to think too hard about topics when I write, and everything is too literal and bland.
or if I try to make it "interesting" it becomes too flowery or difficult to understand.

Which Tiesto album if you don't mind me asking? Every now and then I love a good trance/electronic dance album... just got Anjunabeats vol 7 by Above & Beyond, good stuff! Some of it is fluffy trance but they generally have great melody and beats without sounding too lame (if that's possible say here.. )

I love trance-y music. A solid heartbeat with constant morphing melodies, suspense and release. When that dude gets on a roll, there's nothing like it in my books.

In all honesty, I'm finding it hard to do Decon. now, it seems like a lot of work for something I'm 'over'. We'll see.

Well , like I think you've said its all about balance. Maybe working on the 4th album and Deconstruction at the same time will help? I don't know.... maybe it will allow you to go from one extreme to another, a sort of ying and yang thing.

Personally I can't go more than a few days with one type of music... If I listen to Dev or FNM, Deftones, Tool, Porcupine Tree you name it... after a few days I need something else to keep me interested, to keep me level headed. So I'll turn to trance, Ulrich Schnauss, M83, Global Communication, Massive Attack, Delerium (older stuff), Boards of Canada etc, etc.. and than the same process goes on with them... A few days later I'll need a pick me up. I think it keeps me from getting tired of music, from getting in a rut. Its all about variety!

Anyway, I hope Dev and all Canadians are having had a great Thanksgiving... I know I am.... full, full, full... from a great dinner!

Ok, it´s good to make things clear, it´s NOT Syl, good, i mean, i like it, but it´s ok to take a new step, and evolve, try new things, you said it is going to be a heavy album, so I believe you and that´s what im expecting. Many, many of us who are waiting this 4 albums, won´t be disappointed, stay confident on your stuff!
