I like Gildenlow a lot better than Dev (or anyone) voice wise. but I'm partial to Baritone.

I think he is technically better...LOL@ the baritone thing. What does he have, like a 5 octave range? Amazing.

Still like Dev's character and tone better though.

That's right. Baritone. Tenor can be good, too, though..

My personal favorite PoS record is Remedy Lane, it's got everything.

BE is the last PoS album I'd suggest anyone to start off with, only because it's typically the hardest album to grasp, musically and conceptually. I always recommend Remedy Lane and The Perfect Element Pt 1, even though I started with One Hour By The Concrete Lake. One listen to "Inside" was all it took.

And yes, Scarsick is TPE Pt 2. It says so right in the booklet (which I don't have in front of me at the moment). TPE Pt 1 is "He" and Scarsick/TPE Pt 2 is "She". By the way, their new album (double disc, 22 songs, concept similar to Remedy Lane) is pretty much complete, but SPV filed for bankruptcy. Everything's on hold until they find out what's going on with SPV and InsideOut.

Conceptually, I'd agree. Musically, no. It's the most consistent album they've ever made.

although for a song to get hooked, yes, "Inside" or "Trace Of Blood".

Not about Pain of Salvation... I respect Gildenlöw, but he's not really even in my top 20 of musicians. Quite talented guy though.

Back Deconstruction, people!

I definatly think that deconstruction will be dev's crowning moment.

Right now my mind cant comprehend how complicated and chaotic this monster is going to be.

Even though you've only heard like 1-2 minutes of the very rough idea? :p

Danny Carey with Devin Townsend would be too amazing... the result would be so epic I probably wouldn't be able to listen to anything else anymore. DC's always jamming with his other band VOLTO! anyway, and Tool's going on tour in a couple days, so moot point, bad timing, wishful thinking, etc.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Kenneth Schalk of Candiria. With the exception of the last two Candiria albums (couple decent songs, mostly awful though), Candiria plays a blend of prog metal fused with jazz and hip hop. The song structures are analogous to chapters in a book without any choruses, but with some amazing transitions (love Ken Schalk's fills). The vocals are probably a turn-off to most newcomers, but I think this is one of the more interesting metal bands around, and I'm a huge technical metal listener.

Hey! What about Joey Baron (Naked City, John Zorn...)?

That would be...

AWESOME! I bet they could cook up something really tasty together. Really cool combination - although it's never going to happen. Carey can do just about anything, and his drumming sounds really good, massive! Nice kick sound. That's important!

Cool idea.
