"By Your Command" is in my top five DT songs, a few of my drummer friends refused to believe the drums were samples.

Perhaps it's because we don't hear real drums on records anymore ... most the drummers we hear today can't really play the way we hear them on records 'cause it's all "time-stretch and triggers" [not trying to be a smart ass or anything].

really? i love the record, but the drums still annoy me. not just because they're programmed, but because they've got zero dynamic. good to hear that there'll be a mix of man and machine on decon, though. i'm pretty sure devin will use the computer drums in a different, maybe more specifically mechanical, way, since he's got some awesome drummers at hand.
i myself thought about making an album with different drummers, and wondered if that would be weird, so i'm glad to hear that the man himself does that, too

This album is starting to sound like the most experimental album Devy has recorded since HAARHT! How about "Cod Metal King 2"?

So, as Deconstruction is kind of my 'freak flag waving metal symphony' I'm going to use several approaches for the drums,some digital, and a few different live dudes.

The closing song is REALLY crazy, and I'm using a drummer for this and a few other tracks named 'Brooks Wackerman', we've been friends for years, and he's really got a GREAT musical mind...it's pretty avant garde and rather 'progressive', but really, really over the top in therms of time signatures etc.

Interesting. Wouldn't have thought of Wackerman... still, you gotta trust your instincts. I was a big fan of the drumming on Groove Family Cyco though.

My suggestions would have been Chris Pennie (DEP + Coheed), DelRay Brewer (drummer from Buckethead's "Island Of Lost Minds) or Brian Dailor (Mastodon). Any one of those guys would be perfect for what I imagine a full-on Devy metal symphony to be. Of course, I have no idea what you're cooking up... I suspect it isn't going to be like anything I can actually imagine.

Now I'm going to go listen to Bad4Good!

There's another 'full metal drummer', as well as Superior drummer, and some really fucked electronic stuff...different approaches for the different 'movements' (if I can be so pretentious) ...no names quite yet.

You are allowed to be pretentious but only if you refer to them as Bowel Movements.

"Bowel Movement #5 In G Minor" has a very nice ring to it.

Interesting, i almost suggested Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth) but didn't know about his abilities to play heavy. I didn't know he has a brother who is a (even more?) successful drummer, too.

Me thinks, Brad is Chad's son. He's a bit younger, too.

I love Brookes drumming, his work with Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies pretty much cemented him into my mind as an awesome drummer

Ziltoid is an excellent drummer but he is in the planet smasher actually...

Who were drummers from Australia you were thinkin of Dev? Matt 'Skitz Sanders?
YouTube'n drummers with some mates, there's a local teacher by the name David Jones, real professional drummer could be good for more experimental stuff, dunno how hard it's be to book him though.
