Oooh fuck, yes!

I know right?

It doesn't get anymore intense than http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oey85FGHOHc

The dude has IMO the best technical chops in the genre, but it never gets repetitive or boring. Absolutely incredible.

The guy is a fucking monster. I can't believe he recorded The Apostasy with an elbow-injury

You could always try to talk to Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. He's on tour at the moment, so that might be an issue, but any doubts I had about him as a really heavy ass drummer went away when I heard Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

But... he's so annoying... He'd probably try to take over Dev's music. Yeah, I'm a DT fan but Mike... I just can't handle him anymore.

Now... ADRIAN WHITE. Yes?

Portnoy can be used just as a session drummer, there's no need for him to interfere in the musical process. But he would be expensive and would be cool to hear some "new" drummers instead of the already known ones

My brother is a great drummer! Even though he's gonna be playing in a cruise band out in the Bahamas or something for a few months, he's currently in Toldeo, Ohio playing in a handful of bands each from a different genre. Blues, rock, pop, metal, jazz, latin, big band, classical...you name it, he can play it. And I'm not just saying all this because he's my brother! 8)

His presence online isn't as varied as his chops, but here is his Myspace and a Youtube clip of one of the bands he's in.

So, as Deconstruction is kind of my 'freak flag waving metal symphony' I'm going to use several approaches for the drums, some digital, and a few different live dudes.

The closing song is REALLY crazy, and I'm using a drummer for this and a few other tracks named 'Brooks Wackerman', we've been friends for years, and he's really got a GREAT musical mind...it's pretty avant garde and rather 'progressive', but really, really over the top in therms of time signatures etc.

There's another 'full metal drummer', as well as Superior drummer, and some really fucked electronic stuff...different approaches for the different 'movements' (if I can be so pretentious) ...no names quite yet.

More news as it comes.

I often wonder why Dev would go to the trouble of rehearsing up a drummer for the real heavy stuff, I think the drums on Ziltiod are awesome, "By Your Command" is in my top five DT songs, a few of my drummer friends refused to believe the drums were samples.

Weird.... and unexpected....yet very cool, and somehow expected lol. I figured you would do something different....and that is why I love you, because you are unpredictable. I am finding out that sometimes it is better to go with the "musical mind" like you said, as well as someone with a great attitude...versus someone who is a robot and contributes nothing. That being said, how much will these people be contributing as far as ideas?
