Devin you are a genius in music. Compared to you Gene is a sort of puppet who is blasting and blasting all the times. :chain: It's very very impressive drumming in term of rapidity because in term of real technicity there's so much better (mike portnoy (dream theater), george kolias (nile), twists ankls( behemoth) etc...) . :furious: But The most important in music is the emotions, the originality do with passion like the Devin Townsend stuff. 8) Without you Devin... No syl and no Gene because 95% of the syl stuff is composed by you (arranged by you... battery, guitars, synthé, programmation) and play by members or session members... it's why I said Gene is a puppet of you and without you he's nothing. :guitar: Syl is the past now... :dead: Next station of the tram... Addicted. :coucou: Good night and sorry for the fan of gene :zzzz: Hail Devin :D

HauntingTheHoly wrote:Is Nick Menza still playing somewhere? Last I heard, he was retired and no longer capable of drumming for physical reasons. That according to Dave Mustaine a few years ago, but it's been awhile. *shrug*

He is currently in a band called Orphaned To Hatred. I have not heard anything from them so not sure if he still has all his chops. I never heard about his physical issues. He was damn good in Rust In Peace though.

Who (other than Gene) are your favorite drummers?

Mario Duplantier and Martin Axenrot! I think Mario is amazing, he just compliments everything in Gojira's music so well... I can't really explain more, and I guess there are tons of people who know drummers better than I do.

edit: And I'd have to give a +1 to Reinert as well.

I love Mario' style. He would be a great choice.

Martin Lopez. Definitely. My 2nd favorite and perfect for progressive. He's not in a band right now (I don't think) and might be ready and up to the task. He'd definitely be in an all-star band for my choice of drummers.
