Exactly. That comment section does seem a bit redundant, there's no info whatsoever to be found in the comments, they have no value, except the infamous "my opinion" one which never did anything but fucking sucked.

The sad thing is, it's almost like a necessary evil. There's no doubt that Blabbermouth is the number one news source for metal and rock. Sure, you could pick all that info up from various other music webzines and band websites, but Blabbermouth is the one-stop depot, so to speak. And I really love that part of it.

But the comment sections, sadly enough, probably drives a huge percentage of traffic to the site. People get off on that negativity. I mean, some people use those comment blocks like it's a forum. They know each other; they have conversations like we do here. It's ridiculous. But, if Blabbermouth takes those comment areas away, traffic to Blabbermouth would drastically diminish; thus all the money coming in from advertisers, etc. Roadrunner wants that, even though it hurts so many bands, and plays into this younger generation's culture of negativity and misguided hatred.

It's the high school bully syndrome come to life online.

"Thanks. This is going to be Rad. It's really hard to finish something when you can't stop laughing. (in a good way).

I didn't realize that was posted already. Cool. That whole B Movie thing is right on. Kind of a mix between Mars Attacks and Dark Crystal, with generous Helpings of Plan 9 and Flash Gordon (at least that's where my mind was for it.) The coffee thing also plays a big part here. In more ways than one.

:D

Mars Attacks was one of my first thoughts, and it's exactly the sort of theme I was hoping for. I love that movie. I also love Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack, so a little Queen influence in the music would be a delight.

Well, just to be clear, i was only speaking for where MY mind was during the process, not trying to describe the project itself - as that's better left to Dev, of course. We traded a few ideas along the way and those are what stuck in my head.

I just wanted to drop in here really quick and thank everyone for the comments. Especially Dev.

T

Totally understand that. I was just indulging in a little wishful thinking, but thanks for clarifying, Travis. And nice to hear from you. :D

Blabbermouth is a wasteland of angst and opinions when it should just be a news site. Leave the opinions to the forums.

As long as Devin does what he does, I'll be happy. It doesn't need to be 24/7 news, just as long as he's proud of what he does, i'm sure the people of this forum will digest it in ways that the posters of blabbermouth don't take the time to do with music. Dev's true support is here. I don't expect as close of a news report as we once received years ago, but I do love how close knit this place is.

..I say that when I only have >100 posts, but I'm here everyday reading everything. :D

Fcking blabbermouth. Dude, as someone else said, that site is 98% wee little morons barely growing pubes and so happy that dad bought them a 'puter. Fsck them!

I wasn't looking forward to this album at first. I was actually bummed when I first heard about it 'cause it sounded stupid to me. But, on further reflection, I can't wait to buy it. I'm imagining something that sounds similar to Physicist or Infinity. I'm probably wrong, but that's what popped into my head as I looked at the art and read what Dev had to say about it. I can't wait for it, in any case, 'cause I know it will come from the heart.

This is total kissing ass on my part, but I hereby resolve that from now on, I will always buy any album that Dev puts out regardless of what I think it will be because I will probably be very wrong. At very least it will be an honest album which is so much better than most of the cynical crap that gets released these days.

I would imagine that it must be very difficult to be an artist in the marketplace these days with the immediacy of the internet and all. A blessing and a curse. Personally, were I in such a situation, I would avoid places like blabbermouth and just stick to reading stuff I know will be worth my time.

I'm glad to hear Dev has lots of music still to be made. His albums have catapulted into my all-time favorites in just a few years. I'm a fan boy know, for sure. Oh well. At least it's honest fawning on my part. :D

WOOOO!!!!!

Time to borrow someone's credit card and spluuuurge.

And about the phrase, 'His Omniscient-ness'. I used it in a comment I left on Ziltoid's myspace a few weeks back. I'd like to claim it, but I think I'll just assume Dev or Tracy coined it by themselves. I think they deserve the credit

Can't wait for this album.

Blabbermouth is the equivilant of supermarket tabloids. Just ask Mikael Akerfeldt. Anything little thing that a musician says/posts on the internet gets taken way out of context and blown up to gigantic proportions.

Either way, I still say this will be a great album.

I'm glad that Devin's extensive description of Synchestra didn't end up on Blabbermouth - and especially info regarding his family life.

I occasionally post comments on Blabbermouth and I enjoy 1 out of 20 or so of other poster's comments, since there are some knowledable guys on there who contribute constructive information from time to time. But I could do without these comments, no doubt..

And as far as Ziltoid is concerned: I love the variation of the "multiverse" concept: "omniverse", hehe!

I like the Gene Hoglan interview they quoted where he was like "now blabbermouth.net is probably going to make the headline 'gene hoglan likes partying with naked men' because i said that" and that's exactly what they made the headline :P

hehe, good one! but blabbermouth doesn't seem the only place where the ziltoid news is a hot topic. i just googled "ziltoid" yesterday to get an impression of the discussion and ended up in the dream theater forums, where the opinions ranged from "brilliant" to "total crap". seems to be a real controversy oô
but i must also state that those forums seem to be a rather uncomfortable community. but really, what makes the people so upset about the concept of a coffee drinking alien? i don't get it :/ instead, i'm totally looking forward to the record and have no problem at all with the idea behind it.
i'm very glad that my favourite musician does what he wants, even if some of his audience don't get it.
