All my friend's say that APC's cover of that song sucked because they made it sound depressing instead of uplifting, but I really like it :\

Unfortunately its the only good thing on their covers album... and the original song (I think its called "The Patient" or something)

actually I remembered one more worth mentioning

I know it's technically speaking not a cover, because the group covered themselves, but in such a fantastic manner...

I'm speaking about Pain of Salvations "Ashes" which can be found on their 12:5 acoustic live album. not only it is acoustic, but they made that song uplifting instead of sad and depressive. and it's just so...wow :P

That's exactly what I mean. I didn't know that there was a John Lennon-cover on the DVD, which made the experience quite intense. I was like "Boy, that sounds depressing... Oh... I know this... Imagine?! John Lennon! Fuck my ass!!"

Everybody keeps saying that a band covering a song should not just copy it, but turn it into something new by not only being performers, but musicians with their own musical visions. Sounds easier than it is, I guess. But even if someone dislikes APC's version of this song, he/ she must admit that they definitely achieved that.

i love that APC made that song their own....i barely even recognised it, and i love the depressive tinge they gave it, makes it more appropriate for todays political climate, which is what the album was all about really :)

Raunchy's cover of FNM's "From Out Of Nowhere"!!

Just kidding. It's good, but who the hell can touch Mike Patton & Co.?

Actually, I say King's X covering Jimi Hendrix's "Manic Depression" is a hell of a cover. Particularly given the emotional gravity dUg Pinnick adds to the song. Yes, he's being playful in it...but the underlying pain is never far away.

Better off dead (originally by Bad Religion, covered by Anathema)

just check it out ;)

Puh-lease.

As an old-school Bad Religion fan - almost 20 years - let me tell you that you are way off. BR are perfect at what they do (OK, forget the albums without Brett Gurewitz) and if anything, their own songs can not be topped, only interpreted in a different way. IMVHO. And I like Anathema.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah always strikes me as the best cover version I've ever heard. Totally made it his own and still gives me shivers.
