A lesson in how to become a fan of a band in one hour:

Literally within the past hour I've done a bit of reading, checked out their website, listened to a few tracks, ordered some of their stuff AND 2 tshirts (the red owl one and the blue orchard one).

Hooray for dredg! Hooray for CardDinour! Hooray for Coma Divine! Hooray for ALL whose web names contain the initials C and D! Hooray for the Hevy Devy Forums!

As far as I know, it is "dredge", with a silent "e'. :D

There we go!
That "instant, freeze-dried, gimme-everything-at-once internet overload" phase of societal development that we appear to be mired in - does have it's positive side!

You won't regret it, a band I discovered for the first time this year and I was quite upset I waited so long!

as for stuff you might not have heard of: Aereogramme's new album and Seclusion EP. Khoma's album (ft. members of Cult of Luna!).

The Postman Syndrome. Minus the Bear... later Katatonia.

Then there's some mainstream and/or emo stuff that I just like more (The Mars Volta, Circa Survive, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Muse, Thrice - Vheissu)

That's about it... Aereogramme and Khoma were the main two though

I choose not to take that as an insult. :P

You're right though... the speed with which one can access that which would otherwise be described as "art" is remarkable, for better or for worse.

I absorb, I assess, I pass personal judgement upon thee, all in the space of an instant. Welcome to the 21st Century, like it or not.

@ Noodles and CardDinour,

Thanks guys! I've followed Radiohead religiously for a decade (or seems like) but have lost interest in the past 18 months or so, enjoy The Mars Volta when the mood strikes, and Muse and A Perfect Circle are in my CD collection.

Will check the others out soon...
