I'm just starting to discover more and more from his solo work (the man released six albums within less than a year?!) and damn... The more I hear from him, the more I am impressed. And this is saying a lot, since I know and really respect his music with the Chili Peppers for quite some years by now and haven't really gotten into his solo projects until now.

His guitar playing is outstanding - I liked his very minimalistic style on Californication (the whole album really), his way of combining anything-but-ordinary chord progressions with melodies like in Under The Bridge, his approach to acoustic guitar playing... Well, I could go on like this for quite a while (just thinking of his great rhythm AND lead guitar playing on Stadium Acadium...), so I'm gonna interrupt myself with posting two links instead:

Frusciante is an amazing guitar player, you got to hear the mars volta amputechture album, frusciante play in some tracks and you definetlly got to hear the last Glenn Hughes album music for the divine, great great album! (Frusciante, CHad Smith and Glenn hughes, amazing)

I, too, think that John Frusciante is one bad ass mo fo on the guitfiddle. Plus, his vocal harmonies are what make RHCP the good band that they are today...it's that final ingredient that makes the RHCP stew so delish. I'm glad he overcame his reticence to perform with RHCP, because Dave Navarro wasn't the piece in the puzzle that fit....at all.

Love that guy, his vocal harmonies really are the finishing touch on RHCPs originality. I heard only one solo album of his, "to record water only for ten days" and there were some kick-ass tracks on there. To my understanding he's been pouring out albums like some crazy mofo since then, so may be I'll delve a bit into it

I think that the best RHCP album is Blood sugar Sex Magic, the kind of music and the awesome melodies make me love the guitar playing of Frusciante! HIgly recomended this album

And, yes, Frusciante is, indeed, the "skinny chap". I should also add "scarred", as his addiction, (pertaining to his skinniness) nearly destroyed him, but he somehow rose above and has prospered ever since.
