Just saw them on Friday night.. amazing show.. these guys still know how to do it right. Just a few things about it.. spoilers alert for anyone who is still going to see it.

We got there an hour late because we missed the fuckin exit to get on the road to the arena, and had to turn around just before new york. Got there during the 3rd song, Brighter Than A Thousand Suns was playing. They played the entire new album from beginning to end first.. which was 10 songs and took up most of the show. Now don't get me wrong, I think the album is really good, and sounded like a fuckin masterpiece live.. but it hit me as kind of a "fuck you listen to our new shit" vibe. But I wasn't too mad about it, after all it's great music.

Then they played Fear of the Dark, and then Iron Maiden, which during that song a giant robot with treads came out of the stage and a giant Eddie soldier walked around the stage. Then they took a break for encore. For the encore they came back out with 2 Minutes To Midnight, The Evil That Men Do, and ended with Hallowed Be Thy Name.

It sucked that they only played 5 old songs.. kind of disappointing in that sense, but the show they put on made up for it. Definitely the most entertaining show I've ever been to.

You don't want me to post my extensive reply to all the "play-the-classics" whiners from Blabbermouth.net, do you!?

In short: don't complain about new material on a new-album-tour by Maiden and go to a nostalgia-tour by Maiden if you want nostalgia. :P

I heard the American shows have been going pretty well. Everyone seems to take a keen interest in Maiden playing the full length of the new album. My very close friend went to the Philly show afew days ago and she said it was fantastic. There were afew hick-ups with the tank since the Philly power company couldn't handle the demand of the Maiden show, so they had to leave out the giant tank that came onstage. But Eddie still made an appearence.

I would have seen them, but I had to leave Philly afew days before they played. Damn it!! I should have gotten a one way ticket so I could have seen them...oh well, im sure they'll tour Australia sooner or later. :P

I feel with you and I'd wish they could handle "An Evening with Iron Maiden" 2,5 hour shows, but they are not the youngest anymore. I'm pretty certain you'll get Aces High on their "History Tour Part II" in 2007/08, featuring the Powerslave stage setting.
